Jie did not see his race as a xenophobic group of people, although certainly his opinion on the matter was rather skewed. Afterall, not only was he one of those people, but he was also one of the rare to travel the world and see its wonderful sights and experience its horrific atrocities. Therefore, knowing the things he did... The Yetine Island tribe really wasn't so bad at all. Which gave him the confidence to say:
"I assure you that my people have nothing to hide and will provide you with aid to the best of their ability. Also, I might add... the restroom is the second door on the left from this kitchen. Take a right as you exit."
Despite the chieftain's apparently barbaric treatment of island guests through his selection of available food and drink, Li would be rather glad to know that the aging gentleman's home was equipped with the latest in modern plumbing and toiletry related comforts. Depending on what the troubled marine was planning on doing in there however, he might find that the throne was a bit cold to the touch.
... Just the consequences of being this far north, really.
"Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Chan. We both understand where you're coming from sir, but would be able to at least give us a place to start sorting out his mess?"
"Hmmmm..." The Longarm Leader considered this question deeply as he moved towards the door, pulling it open-wide and allowing Li free passage to the can. As he did so though, the sound of an argument began to flitter through the cleared gateway. It was... distant at first, though growing steadily louder as the two people, male and female, began to draw close to the kitchen.
"Has it ever been a problem before? Ever? Ever? "
"It's never a problem because Jie and-or I were there to watch over you!"
"So you'll be there today, and we'll just go in there like we always did! Pop in, 'negotiate'-" A person could practically hear the air quotes dropping into place. "-and be back on the ship before the tea gets cold."
"Ah, you could start with them Mr. Bando. They are my associates investigating this matter already. August, May. Come over here for a moment if you could?"
Practically right on cue, a normal, 1-elbowed man and woman about the same age as Jie walked into view. Their clothes had much more in common with the standard world styles than the usual Longarm changshans that Li and his ilk were wearing; replaced with heavy winter coats and jeans, gloves and boots and the like. Rather than that though, the standout item on either of their outfits was an impossibly large sword slung onto the male's back, joined by a much more standard-looking steel staff on the lady's. And, quite alarmingly, both newcomers grabbed at their weapons when Dice came into view. "Marines?!"
Jie immediately threw up his hands to stop his comrades from doing anything rash. "No no you two... Well, yes, they are marines. But they're here regarding the recent trade disagreements concerning the Micqueot... Not... anything else."
The tension in both of the single-elbowers faded away and they become all smiles for the moment... A suspicious incident, but unrelated apparently. "Ah... That's a relief. Well then, what can we do for you?"
