Mission: 33
The smuggling ring has gotten out of control! The marines in Athens desperately need help and are offering 10,000 beri to any one that can stop or put a dent in the business. The front entrance looks dangerous maybe there is another way in.
The Marines must have been losing their touch. She couldn't help but think this and it made her the slightest bit mad. Her brother was in the Marines after all and if that mean that he was like these guys then she didn't like it. The very thought made her want to find and fight him just to make sure he was still in good shape. There was no doubt about it that they both still fought the same after all he was so good with the sword too. It would be a waste of talent if he didn't keep on using it even with being in the Marines.
It was pretty pathetic in her opinion that they were asking for help to stop a smuggling ring on this island. They offered a pretty decent reward for such an easy sounding job. She was sure it would be simple enough to accomplish and move on to the next island. She was needing the money to get her back on track in finding a crew worthy of her time and skill. She wasn't arrogant no not in the least but more just confident her her abilities. She was train by the best in her eyes and that made her potential enough to be the best.
She had her eyes set on putting an end to this smuggling ring and to put at least the Marines on this island in their place. She wasn't openly admitting she was a pirate and in fact she didn't consider herself much of one yet. She had yet to find a crew to join and so she was more or less a traveler or a bounty hunter. She didn't care if she was meant to be a pirate when it came to making sure she had enough money to live. She took out other pirates without thinking or batting an eyelash just to turn them in for their bounty money.
Most would probably see her has cruel or perhaps a traitor to her kind when they found out she was a pirate. She wasn't anything of the sort if anything she was just being like normal pirates minus the bounty hunting. In the end when you looked at it from a different perspective she was only doing it for the money. That sounded like a pirate thing to do to people and she never showed any mercy when she did it anyway. She was just there to end something and collect the money to help her travels. She had things she needed to tend to like every other human being and money always helped. It didn't matter to her where she got it from.
Lilith was just doing a bit of research right now to make sure she didn't mess anything up. She was cautious when she did things and she always thought it best to be. She didn't like having to use her eye too much. It might not last very long if she kept using it in her fights and then she'd have to get it repaired. She hated having to walk about a town with an eye patch as she waited for her robotic eye to be repaired. It was annoying and it always caught stares, which she disliked.
She was collecting information because well the Marines hadn't provided her with quite enough. She liked to have a bit more than what she had received so she went about her business talking to townspeople and some pirates here and there. She was intimidating enough to make pirates talk or they were just scared of the long katana she carried with her. She went without being fazed by the way they talked to her anyway and that probably added to it a bit. She never looked all too enthused about talking to them but she got the information that she would need.
In the end, the pirates had been the most help in this whole ordeal and she learned of the pirate crew that was running the show. She didn't seem to know much about them herself but one or two pirates were able to tell her of their key players. The captain was a cruel man who seemed to be going a step further with his smuggling ring and bringing in people. It sounded like something that a pirate would do or at least the lousy ones. His first mate was the one who did the 'recruiting' and would find mainly women to put up in it. The drugs were maintained by their doctor of the crew and he was just as cruel since he knew how the drug worked.
The Marines had only been able to tell her where the smuggling ring's entrance was located and that a bunch of pirates guarded it. There might be another way in if what some of the townspeople said as true but it didn't sound like it would be a much easier path. The pirates sounded like they would be a lot more enjoyable to get through. A labyrinth was not something that sounded like it would be easy to get through especially since it was a maze after all. The front entrance was probably the easiest bet but she'd have to play her cards right.
For now, Lilith stayed put behind a set of trees and kept her eyes on the entrance. It was really well guarded like she had been told but there had to be something that could distract these guys. It would take a bit more of her observation for her to figure something out. Just something in the area needed to make itself known with how useful it might be. Maybe she should cause an uproar with some of the cattle and make them have to shoo them away. The more she thought about the more she remembered these were pirates she was talking about. They'd just end up taking the cattle for themselves to eat. There had to be something and she would figure it out eventually.
