We last left Alek, Lyra and Jack aboard a recently stolen Dhow ship. They were sailing, but not the endless blue ocean. No, Alek and co. were soaring through the air; having been propelled their by the desire to join the Chess Pirates, to escape, and most significantly the desire to live. Alek is recuperating, but his rest will soon be disturbed by the omniescent menace that is gravity. Normally a master of plans, the 23,000,000 bounty head has failed to divulge his follow-through. What happens now?

'Hnn...ugh...nnngh...' The sounds of a disturbed sleep filled the room. Since finding themselves airborne, the cyborg had comandeered a room and settled quickly into a deep bliss. Or so he would say. Evidently, the "Checkmate King" wasn't telling the whole truth. As he tossed and turned in the covers the thoughts in his head still chased him - he was a slave to his mind, and it seemed his mind was being quite the malevolent fellow. Still, hopefully his mind would be appeased when Alek reunited with his crew. Surely being around his nakama would ease this ire?
Alek woke up and dressed himself. Making his way up to the deck - which wasn't easy - the Captain of the Chess Pirates decided to take a look at the clouds and the aether one last time before things became complicated. He felt comfortable - despite the rushing winds - up here. It was perfectly blue. It was calming. It was the sky.
It was his home.
A nostalgic sigh escaped his lips; the desire to be in his home realm consuming him momentarily. Determination and a reminder of his goal quickly overrided that emotion, however. He had to become the greatest king of them all, and to do that, he had to make sacrifices. If sacrificing the ability to stay in one place for more than a few days before being attacked and chased out by marines was all he had to do, then so be it.
'Lyra? Jack? Come out here...we've got to plan for when we...land.'
