(ooc: really sorry it's taken me so long to post..)
The cook had returned to her work. She didn't exactly know the taste preference of the crew, especially not with the sudden addition of people, all of whom she hadn't even met yet. However, in her time of cooking she had come to realize that most people enjoyed soft meat with gravy - the kind of meat that you didn't even have to cut. So that's what was being made, and it had worked so far. The meat was very tender. She cut off a small piece, enough to just see what color it was inside. Nice and browned - it was done. The girl smiled - she'd never really cooked on her own before, only with the help of her maid or nanny. Not to mention she hadn't even cooked for a long time. 'Guess I'm a natural..'[/i]
The door swung open, bringing one of the new recruits with it. She had a flashback of the days that she was a prisoner of that crew, and froze. Reality swiftly came back to her, but she was still useless. The man asked for food, laughing. That laugh - it disturbed her. Not just because of the laughing itself but because of her flashback. Regardless, the words registered in her mind, and, out of kindness, tried to point him in the right direction. "I-I-It's.. she stammered, but could not even finish two full words.
Some sort of ruckus sounded from the deck, distracting the man for a moment. It scared Miyako, and she ran to the small walk-in pantry in the kitchen, closing the door quickly to hide. There was just barely enough room for her to sit on the ground, so she did, knees bent up against her chest with her arms wrapped around them. She dug her face into her knees, balling. She wanted to not be scared anymore, and she also just wanted to go home.
