An Introduction: Piracy & Love [Fox & Bobbie]

“Why don’t you take those sunglasses off when you talk to me, Pissant?” The gruff voice and insult came from a barrel chested pirate. Johannes heard the man’s words but couldn’t see much past the pirates giant curved nose and lightning bolt shaped mustache. “I wasn’t talking to you. I was talking to the bartender.” Johannes visibly strained himself while stifling the addition of a curse.

“Yeah? Well you’re talking across me and I don’t like it. Matter of fact I don’t like you, I don’t like the way you’re talking back, and I damn sure don’t like the fact that you’re still wearing those dumb glasses. Take ‘em off, Tiny, or we'll have a problem.” Added barrel chest. Johannes responded by standing up from his stool at the bar. He watched two other gentlemen get up from their seats along with the gruff, barrel chested man. There was no doubt in Johannes’ mind that they were comrades of the ugly, bigger, barrel chested, curved nose, and lightning bolt mustached beast now standing over him. One resembled a rat, while the other a snake. “Relax, Gentlemen-” Johannes suggested. “Gentlemen” said with sarcasm. “I’m taking off. Don’t get up for me.” He pushed the pointy black sunglasses further onto his nose in defiance.

“You don’t get off that easily. Not with us. Not with me. You ain’t going anywhere until you take those damn glasses off.” He pointed a finger in Johannes’ face. It was a decidedly bad move on his part.

Johannes nodded his head. He let a moment of silence hang between them. Those watching the exchange would feel the tension rise. “Who are you?” Johannes asked calmly, hands in his pockets, and staring up at the pirate. The two other pirates with him snickered from the table they occupied. “Tell him who you are, Captain.” One said in a weaselly voice.

“I’m Captain Marc We-” The hog resembling pirate couldn’t finish his introduction before Johannes bit the man’s pointer finger clean off. Johannes spit the end of it into the rat’s beer stein. “Keep your fingers out of my face!” Johannes commanded as the pirate cried out in pain over the absence of his finger. “Matter of fact, get out of mine completely!” Johannes ordered, headbutting the pirate square on the chin, and sending him reeling into his comrades table and into a state of unconsciousness.

“Sorry about that. I’ll pay for the damage.” Johannes said to the bartender as he sat down at the bar for the second time that night.

“We’ll get you for this.” The snake-like pirate threatened. “Grab the Captain’s finger.” The other ordered. “This ain’t over!” They shouted. Johannes let the moment linger again before turning his head. “Oh yeah?!” He yelled. Intimidated, the two pest-like pirates picked their Captain up hurriedly and ran out of the saloon doors.

“Let me get some more booze and some information.” Johannes told the bartender.

As Pesha walked along on Pirate’s Market, she took the time to get a glance at a lot of what the merchants were selling. She had heard a lot about this place from her beloved Vasca and other peers from quite a number of years ago, but never had the opportunity to visit the place herself. Many of his collectibles were purchased from here. Now he returned to this very market in a different form, as Pesha held her satchel filled with his bones close to her.

Standing in front of a stall, she allowed her gaze to wander from the prized items on display in search for an item of far greater value. She and Ikra had been strolling through the market together, which Pesha would frequently turn her head to look back and confirm was still the case. As she looked at Ikra once more, she located said item, her eyes fixed on her wonderful companion.

“All kinds of rugs, m’lady! Any size, any pattern! Whatever you need one more!” The vendor rattled on, desperate to make a sale while Pesha was distracted.

“May I perhaps interest you in something that would suit a fine lady such as yourself? A woman with delicate taste of a unique variety-” that caught her attention. A soft chuckle escaped the woman’s purple lips as she whipped her head around to look at the man.

“Unique variety?” She asked, a devious smirk gracing her lips shortly after, the deep purple lipstick accentuating their curl. Watching the man squirm, she raised her brow and shoulders with a little head shake, feigning confusion and begging for an explanation to such a claim as she pretended to be terribly offended.

“Y-Yes, ma’am, your-”

“I want whichever rug has been used to wrap up a corpse… sir.” Crossing her arms with a daring expression, her eyes were fixed on the merchant who immediately flinched and looked puzzled.

“M’lady, I assure you that n-not one of these fine hand-woven fabrics have been used for such defiling purpose!” He stammered, incredulous at her indirect though not subtle accusation. As her arms gently unfolded and hanged down, he watched her cautiously. She leaned forward over the surface top of his stand, and he leaned backward to keep his distance from her. As her dark purple hair slid over her shoulder, she raised one hand to grab the man’s collar and pull him closer, a gentle grasp but one that his weak knees instantly obliged as the gap between them was closed and he found himself face-to-face with the woman.

“Liar… it reeks of death.” Her soft voice rang through the air in a sweet whisper, the lady’s gaze drifting to one particular rug that was hanging on her right and being sold for a cheaper price than the others. She then looked at the man whose face was only millimetres away from hers again and she tilted her head upon letting go of him. “Don’t worry… I won’t tell a living soul.”

Since devouring her Devil Fruit, Pesha had what she called a ‘Death-Radar’ that made it easy for her to sense a dead body or any remnants of one. It was overwhelming at first, as every single decaying organism was picked up and caused a sickening feeling in her stomach, but she soon learnt to filter out the lesser odors and nuances in the air that led her to a dead body only when it was needed.

“W-Who are you?” The man nearly fell backward the moment he was released, shaking as he stared at her.

“A customer.” The cheekiness in Pesha’s tone was undeniable - she was having fun. However, her main goal was not to torment a not-so-innocent man trying to make a living, but rather to keep Ikra preoccupied while Demitri took care of other business which she hadn’t asked him to specify - the less she knew, the easier it would be to keep a secret from Lady Ikra. To that purpose, she spun on her heel to look for Ikra once more, her satchel held safely at her hip. “One who doesn’t need any rugs. Ikra, shall we move on?”
