Nodding as Simon clarified his position on her presence, she took a sip of the wine and watched his face. He seemed concerned about something. Was it... hmm. Shot in the dark, but given he was currently working outside of his old job...
"Well, I'm glad to hear it. Still, if I can do anything to help, let me know. As much as I appreciate you treating me, I am getting paid by the government. I don't want you putting yourself in jeopardy out of some feeling of obligation to pay for things for me, alright?"
It could have sounded condescending, but the borderline puppy dog eyes over the following sip of wine were meant both to soften the blow, and absolutely as a manipulation tactic to get Simon to avoid doing something stupid out of an attempt to impress her.
"Ah, I don't need anything from the pharmacy. I stocked up before I came, but thank you." As he considered the glass, and debated taking the next day off, she frowned.
Based on the glance she had at his wallet, he was definitely not comfortable enough financially to miss too many jobs. "I mean... not to be rude, but Annika is... a tad enthusiastic over practical, from what I saw. If you need better pay or help, I would say something. Forcing you to live paycheck to paycheck is... " As shocking as it was to say this... "Probably not intentional, and from the look of her family's house, I think she can afford to cover a few shortfalls if you're not earning enough from your jobs to feel comfortable."
She considered again offering him a job, but he had made his feelings clear before. Besides, she had seen that prick Miguel around a few times during her check-ins to make sure Simon wasn't getting set up or in trouble. She had no desire to drag that guy along with them.
Yawning slightly, she refocused on Simon. "Also, if need be, I can nap tomorrow and you could ask for the next day off or something?"
