As Lassa continued to enquire about his work outfit, his supposed ‘regular suit’, Simon could feel her gaze on him and he grew more nervous by the second. “Just like the one I’m wearing right now.” It was technically not a lie. In fact, it was entirely honest as what he was currently wearing was what he usually went to work in - a regular two piece suit, neat and presentable for a detective, and something a little extra concealed underneath.
Just as he felt he got away with his vague answer, Lassa got more specific and he flinched. At least three of those qualities that she mentioned were true. It wasn’t brightly coloured though, and he was genuinely unsure about the logo… yet now that he thought about it, there probably was some sort of indication on it that would credit the Stratonovskis or Miss Ayoki specifically, the chocolate madwoman who designed the suit. Unable to lie to save his life, Simon opened his mouth to reply, but no words came out and he instead offered a big silly but guilty smile. Thankfully, Lassa moved on and the regular suit-wearing Simon let out a soft sigh of relief.
“Right, you do, in regular suits, no? Maybe a bit more custom-made than the average one…” he took a moment to eye what she was wearing right now, and then gestured to the cap, which was something different to her usual formal wear. Granted, it was there to serve a purpose, but it completed a look that suited her nonetheless.
As they entered the shop, he had a quick glance around while Lassa fetched a basket and then led him straight to the peppercorns that she wanted. Chuckling as they were wiggled at him, he nodded, “Got it, Crescent Moon Peppercorns, crimson and wiggly.” He smiled at his own silly joke, then looked at the list as he walked with her. Some old fashioned people gave them a few odd looks, but Simon always smiled in response, causing them to feel awkward and turn away.
“Yeah, actually I need shampoo once we're here and coffee’s running low…” he mumbled while his companion reached for the next item on a higher shelf - the corn starch.
Her wince prompted him to look away from the list as his gaze immediately darted to her and he gently put a hand on her arm, looking up at her worriedly. “Are you okay? You're overworking yourself. I’ve got it.” He said that, but reaching for the higher shelf was a far greater challenge for him than it was for her, although he wasn’t typically considered on the shorter side by most people. He didn't have to stretch too much for the brightly coloured box of fine flour, but it was enough for his shirt to be pulled up to reveal the dark blue suit underneath it. He then reached for the basket to take it from Lassa.
“Let me carry it… Here…” he held the notepad for her to hold instead and guide them through the store. “What’s next?”
