Brandon #8 — Raquel #8
The whole situation had her unsettled. Navy and white uniforms aplenty were disturbed by the presence of Justice Coats—those epaulette-bearing articles emblazoned with the symbol for Justice upon their backs—and the even more peculiar sight of a rather snazzily dressed gentleman disembarking alongside them. Marine ships didn’t typically carry people like that. Not as far as Miss Ostaga was aware, at the very least, and she had seen her fair share of World Navy vessels. Now, they were less a reassurance, more a threat.“Which one do you want to take?”
“Good question,” Raq replied, observing the situation with the same intermittent focus that other civilians seemed to be giving. To hazard a guess, it was uncommon for Marine ships to make landfall here out of the blue, but that just added to the mystery. They had to be here for something… or someone. “I’ll take the guy in the stuffy suit and that officer he’s with,” she suggested, although not too keen on the idea of being in close proximity to another highly ranked Marine so soon.
“If somebody’s wearing a suit like that and is on a World Navy ship, it’s usually bad news,” the bronzed woman included, imparting some caution in her words as she and Angelo separated to begin their tactical espionage. Words were already starting to be exchanged out of earshot. Sadly, she had never learned to read lips, which would have been an amazing skill to have in such a situation. All the same, she had to make do with what she could discern as she made her way by.
Inspector? So he’s assessing something… Managing to pick out the position of the man in the climatologically inappropriate attire amongst the ranks of officials, Raquel’s ears finally started to pick out more than stray words as she drew closer, though what she was hearing was as cryptic as it was worrisome…—— MEANWHILE ——“Come on, Brandon,” Leonard chirped:
“Let’s go look at some old rocks…!”
“Oru!” Following in his Captain’s footsteps, Brandon wasn’t particularly enthused about looking at that which his eyes often saw. What did have his spirits heightened, however, was the fact that Leonard was on the move—a chance at freedom from an accursed confinement that would drive any adventurous soul stir crazy. He had experienced it himself in the past, but now he was far less worried about all that. Instead, the feathered fellow was simply enjoying the chance at exploring a mostly unknown world where the temperature was far more tolerable, without having to concern himself too heavily with his company’s health.
“Aru…? Chu,” the penguin voiced passively as he noticed his Captain’s pace had halted, head turning and stray plumes catching the gentle mountain wind as he secured himself on a boulder. Small eyes settled upon the sheer rock face that the swordsman seemed so intrigued by, observing marks carved into the earth itself. Whatever meaning they had carried had long since been lost and—at least to Brandon—was probably never relevant to his kin. “Kuoh, Oreo?” A questioning tilt of the head accompanied his call…{Post Synposis:—}
Taking the initiative, Raquel eavesdrops on the Marines. Meanwhile, Brandon explores with Leonard!
