With the pleasant surprise snacks thrown his way, Lukas smiled as he didn’t expect her to have any on her. “Thanks.” he looked down at the two packages, considering which one he would like to open first while he listened to her, the cards now abandoned on the rooftop.
He hummed for a moment - the experience she described sounded irritating, but he could understand how it would be amusing for her trainer. Of course, those in power could pull all sorts of tricks and pranks on the newbies, and a part of him hoped that his superiors wouldn’t do the same to him, although he doubted this one would... she seemed genuine enough, especially having gone through her own form of hazing.
“I don’t move in the right way?” he echoed after her, glancing her her with a raised eyebrow. “What does that mean?” he asked, curiously. It wasn’t that he disagreed, but he wondered... what would be the right way to move?
Lowering his gaze once more, he opened one of the two packets, a simple nut mix. It was a good choice for the situation, packed with protein to fuel their bodies. Lukas glanced over to see what food she had available for herself, and if the nut mix that she gave him was the only one available, he’d place the open packet between them to share it. Nudging the packet toward her, he took a handful in his palm to nibble on while they talked and watched the clinic.
His eyes were fixed on the building's entrance while his attention was split between their target, his food, and her words. It didn’t take long, however, for his gaze to shift. He could feel her looking right at him and he returned a side glance at first, before he turned his head to face her and nodded. Everything that she said made sense, but he would be lying if he said he didn’t wish to fit into that box that CP agents were put into to categorise them as worth a trainer’s time, even it was an uncomfortable fit.
It was impressive... to see how much faith she seemed to put in him despite barely knowing him. He couldn’t help but wonder for a moment if this was an act, a part of his newbie training somehow, but she seemed honest and she spoke confidently. There wasn’t even room for a quiver in her words, and whether that certainty was faked or not didn’t really matter, did it? It worked wonders on his morale regardless... she was right, with or without Rokushiki, he had his own ways to be useful as long as he was willing to put in the work, which he always thought that he was. Tossing a few of the salted nuts into his mouth, he turned his head again to look at the deck of cards, a smile that displayed a bit more confidence appearing on his face.
Maybe... she’d make a good politician...
With another nod, he glanced at her once more. “Thank you, I hope you’re right about all of that,” he said, before clearing his throat in response to her offer. “That’s... an interesting gamble.” Was he curious? Yes, but it was the huge question mark of the outcome that really peaked his interest, naturally drawn in toward the risk of experimenting with a hormone concoction like that.
“Do you know Agent Goldberg?” he asked, turning once more to watch the clinic to see that there was still nothing happening there. The joys of a stakeout mission. "He should be approaching his 50s by now. He had a gift for getting his hands on all sorts of devil fruit, even in his early years, yet he’s never consumed one himself as far as I know... I’ve accompanied him a few times on a couple of... errands... but never got to actually work with him, not properly.”
