Mushi Mushi no Mi, Model; Tarantula Hawk
English Name:– Bug Bug Fruit, Model; Tarantula Hawk
Classification:– Paramecia
Owned By:– Lucy Roberts
Appearance:– Born from the humble strawberry, admittedly one would have a hard time mistaking this item for a more commonplace item, not least because it's usually bigger than a kiwi fruit. A dark and almost metallic black in colour, the fruit is long and slender, and is broader toward the top and almost pointed at the base, similar to the abdomen of a wasp. The skin of the fruit covered in a cascading pattern of azure swirls, the characteristic of a devil fruit, from the top sprouts four rust coloured leaves, resembling the wings of the resulting creature which is inferred from the power, as well as a twinned stalk which look like antennae.
Ability:– Making the user a 'Tarantula Hawk Human' (Ōbekkōbachi Ningenオオベッコウバチ人間), this fruit gives the user the ability to transform not into a spider nor avian, but rather a potent black wasp known to some as the Pepsis Grossa, or hybrid form.
Form Descriptions:–
Wasp – Around an inch in overall length, Lucy's full transformation takes on the appearance of a wasp, but not your typical yellow jacketed specimen of vespula! The Tarantula Hawk solitary in nature as opposed to the hive focus of other wasps and hornets, it is usually black in colour and for the large part resembles a larger winged ant, complete with six long legs, antennae and a stinger at the tip of their abdomen. Almost metallic black in tone, with subtle azure markings, the wings of the creature possess a rusty colour, and is similar in size to a hornet.
Hybrid – Merging her human and insectoid anatomy, much of Lucy's skin seems to change to a shiny black colour and their anatomy as a whole becomes more segmented, similar to the bodily portions of a wasp or ant. Their pelvic region seeming to morph into a long abdomen with a stinger on the end, from her back sprouts a twin pair of rust coloured wings which fold neatly behind her back when not in use, and she also grows a pair of extra arms identical to the first pair. Not seeming to show significant facial alteration as seems common with other wasp transformations, Miss Roberts does sprout a pair of antennae from the top of their brow, over which she has a certain level of mobility, as well as her eyes looking more like they have black lenses over them like sunglasses or goggles, minus the frames.
Special Abilities:–
Vicious Venom – The sting of the Tarantula Hawk rather pronounced, Lucy's transformations can generate a potent neurotoxin which ranks at a 4 on the Schmidt Pain Index, second only to the bullet ant, and is described to feel like a blindingly fierce electric shock when delivered.
Soaring Stinger – As able in the air as any bee or wasp, Lucy can use her wings to hover or zip around, allowing her a realm of agility which few others can naturally challenge.
Buggy Brilliance – Inheriting many traits of insects due to the species, Lucy's transformations possess skills such as wall crawling, enhanced strength and sensory capacity such as a better sense of smell and wider field of vision.
Weaknesses:– First and foremost the user becoming an 'enemy' of the sea, submersion of any degree in water both salty and otherwise robs them of their ability to activate their power, weakens their body, and if substantial enough can leave them totally paralysed and effectively helpless.
Seastone having a similar effect, exposure to this mysterious substance can likewise restrict activation of their Devil Fruit abilities, as well as drain their strength and stamina.
