After several weeks on the sea, the young, white-haired woman found herself in a strange country, that was full of mountains and long-haired people. As she descended from the ship that carried her on this journey, she shivered. It was the middle of summer, but on this island, there was already autumn, which was something, she wasn´t prepared for. Wearing only a light, summer dress with a skirt above her knees, she was completely unprepared for such a sudden change of climate.
“Hmmm, excuse me miss would you like a help with your luggage?”
A young boy around her age asked, probably hoping to earn something extra from people who arrived on the cruiser.
“What? No, no…I don´t have any, just this…”
She gripped strongly her snow-white sword hidden in a leather scabbard.
“What? Then scram you vagrant, you are ruining my business!”
Such sudden aggression coming from someone so young caught her completely unprepared.
But the young man didn´t let her finish.
“Are you deaf or something? Scram!”
Scared, Bella walked away quickly looking around for some place where she would be able to buy something warmer or at least hide from this cold. She wandered through the streets of the port district until she found a slightly run-down hotel named: “Seagull”
She entered, shivering from cold and headed directly to the reception, hoping for a hot bathtub.
“O..o…one r…r..ooom h…how….m…much?”
The owner of the place, a tall and wiry man in his early fifties, with short grey hair and a missing left ear, looked at her with a hint of hostility.
“6 000 Beli for a night.”
Bella reached into her handbag, pulling out a handful of banknotes and coins. Counting them, she looked on him sheepishly.
“A…and what can I g…get for 3 000?”
The owner frowned.
“For 3 000? I can show you where the door is. Get out, before I´ll call a guard!”
She looked at him pleadingly, but it didn´t look like her attempt would move him, and so she turned around, walking slowly to the door, while her belly growled so loudly, it sounded like a distant thunderstorm.
