Farren #1
Operations had gone smoothly, interference minimal — non-existent even — in their deployment to the field. It was a simple mission, but a necessary one; the risk low so long as they stayed under the radar, the reward more than a suitable stepping stone to future success. Dragon’s forces knew what they were doing. Everyone who needed to be notified had been, on the off-chance that the mission was a failure. All that was left to do now was to execute it.
And so they walked.
Amidst the tall buildings of the city Raffaele, Officer Fierabras Farren of the Revolutionary Army was a moderate anomaly in and of herself. Tall, closing in on three metres in height, with a heavyset frame and moderate complexion, she dwarfed most others in her vicinity by a significant margin. But this was the Grand Line, Coast Nostra at that, and so a person of her stature did not seem to ring any alarm bells, not least of which when others of her height or greater passed them by on occasion.
A finger gently raised the brim of her broad kasa, allowing the mid afternoon sunlight to find its way into dark grey eyes as they scanned the flamboyant and contrasting dark and light Baroque stonework of the buildings. At the far end of the port towered the damaged structure of the military base that housed the country’s armed forces and naval division, itself still recuperating from a recent attack by outside forces, but all the same a looming presence. To be avoided at all costs.
“Our contact… Sebastiano was his name, yes?” Farren asked as they passed under a wide arch featuring ostentatious mouldings and beyond decorative flair, allowing her kasa to shade her face once more as she posed the question to her company. A man to be sought out, supposedly in ownership of his own business upon one of the many wide and busy streets, was their first port of call. That much she had been alert to, though it seemed she’d missed a few moments of the briefing given the strange lapse in memory — no doubt the result of her bizarre rhythm of rest. “I… seem to have missed some of the details,” she admitted…{Post Synposis:—}
As a small group of Revolutionary troops under cover seek out their contact, Farren uses the others to refresh herself.
