Personnel File
}Personality
Shrewd and Cautious
Intelligent and calculating with countless years of experience behind her, Sedna isn’t one to make snap decisions. Her sharp judgement has been honed to a razor’s edge. She’s cautious, weighing the risks of a particular course of action before committing to a decision. She can do this quickly and is fairly utilitarian about which course to take, not one to be moved by her own emotions. But, she can be swayed by those she cares deeply for to take the riskier option. She’s just going to make sure that they have a plan first!
Lonesome Old Bulwark
Sedna wants to connect with others deeply, but her fear of losing people makes her hesitant to reach out for others when she needs it the most. Close personal connections are difficult to establish with her as a result, but once they have been, Sedna becomes a fierce and stalwart ally. She’ll lay her life on the line to protect her family. She’s extremely protective. But, even when she’s surrounded by loved ones, Sedna still sometimes feels lonely because she’ll never share her worries or fears with anyone else. She has to be the one everyone can look for stability and security, and she can’t afford to allow that mask to slip even for a moment.
Stubborn Ambition
Even in her early days, Sedna was ambitious. When she sees injustice or a flaw within a system, she’ll rally up all of her resources to fight against it. She’s fierce, determined, and not one to back down once she’s decided to give something her all. She’ll follow through, even if it means she’ll have to risk her life for it. She’s always wanted to do things that would shake the world to its core. That being said, talking her out of something she’s made up her mind about is nigh impossible. Her stubborn attitude borders on downright inflexible as she is very stuck in her ways.
Elegant Mystique
Carrying herself with the weight and poise of centuries of experience, Sedna has a distinct aura of awe, mystery, and charm surrounding her. She has a particular charm about her that feels poignant and bittersweet. She presents herself as being very proper and refined. Her words carry wisdom and weight largely due to the way that she carries herself. She’s elegant, well-spoken, and has a charisma that draws people to her when she deigns to be sociable.
Brutally Blunt and Honest
Sedna’s not fond of sugarcoating her words. While she’s actually quite diplomatic when she needs to be, she doesn’t find that sparing the feelings of others often produces good results. She’d much rather be direct and doesn’t see much point in beating around the bush. This makes her come across as overly confrontational and harsh at times, but she couldn’t care less. Sedna actively hates two-faced people like the ones that cast her down out of Lemuria.

Appearance
Sedna is a very large mermaid, measuring 21’4” (6.52 m) from head to tail. Her tail is a deep, dark teal color with mottled spots and patterns all over it with a white underbelly. Faded scars are scattered around her tail and her fin as a couple knicks taken out of it. From the waist up, she has extremely fair skin. On her back, two bright red scars form a ‘V’ shape from the top of her shoulders to the small of her back. Half of her face is covered by a burn scar. Her eyes are a pale teal green, or were. She’s gone blind in the one that has the scar over it, and it has turned white. Her hair is grey teal and extremely long. She usually keeps it in a huge braid.
For clothes, Sedna prefers something light. Cold doesn’t really bother her, and she still looks nice for her age. She’ll wear a top that covers what it needs to and sometimes a shawl when she doesn’t want her scars to show. When she splits her tail into legs, she’ll wear an airy skirt around her waist.

Background
}Long ago, there was a kingdom that resided inside of a volcano at the bottom of the ocean. This kingdom was called Lemuria. The capital of Lemuria resided inside of the volcano’s heart in a massive bowl of crystal. Crystals grew everywhere in Lemuria and glowed and hummed softly. Bioluminescent creatures were plentiful. The denizens of Lemuria were said to live extended lives because of the healing properties of the crystals. One day, a terrible cataclysm launched Lemuria all the way from the sea floor into the sky. The survivors of the cataclysm rebuilt the kingdom and joined hands with those that lived in the sky.
So goes the oral history of Lemuria. Sedna was born well after the cataclysm. Not long after her birth, it became evident that she was special. She developed far more slowly physically than other children. While her mental faculties developed normally, she just physically aged more slowly than anyone in the kingdom. Sedna was elevated onto a level similar to the royal family, her parents touting her as some sort of omen of good fortune.
Attempting to live up to their expectations, Sedna angled to gather the support of the people, which she did rather handily. The royal family was forced to make concessions, giving up bits and pieces of their power to pacify the people. A parliament was established with elected officials, one of which was Sedna. They put limits on the power of the royal family. When Sedna pushed for Lemuria to become an elective monarchy, the royal family finally retaliated.
Several senators and the royal family joined hands, fearing that Sedna might become an immortal dictator if she were elected. In a fiendish plot to assassinate her on her fiftieth birthday, Sedna was grievously injured by an explosion in her bed chamber. Several men came in the night to fetch her body and cast her off the island, letting her make the plunge to the world below.
By some miracle, Sedna survived the fall thanks to some quick thinking and a passing Octopus Balloon. She arrived in a strange and unfamiliar sea. After much wandering, she found a passing ship. She began a years-long journey, attempting to find a way to return to the White Sea and Lemuria, but none of the Blue Sea dwellers seemed to have any inkling of how to do so. She travelled the world, meeting all sorts of people, making friends, and slowly, but surely, outliving them. She loved and she lost them all.
About sixty years ago through a series of unfortunate events that resulted in the deaths of several of her closest friends, Sedna was captured by a slaver who auctioned her off at Sabaody Archipelago to a noble residing in the New World. She was made to sing and perform. She’d lost the will to escape or fight, so it made her a perfect pet. Sedna was beyond caring at that point, still mourning the loss of her friends and wondering what the point of being so long lived even was if she was just going to watch everyone fade from memory.
About forty years ago, her captor’s boat shipwrecked near Wano. She washed ashore as the only survivor. Along came a Long Leg man, who cared for her and tended to her injuries. He was very quickly smitten with her, and in an act of naive love, proposed to Sedna right there and then. It took her a while, but amused and worn down by his persistence, she eventually agreed. They were wed and even had a child together, Sedna finding some new meaning and purpose in having a child.
Her new husband Yamato Shunsui and her daughter Yamato Nadeshiko were members of a shinobi clan. Sedna spent some time devoting herself to the study of ninjutsu and learning their ways. However, like everything, her newfound happiness couldn’t last. Sedna saw the signs of Orochi and Kaido’s coup before they transpired and urged her family to leave. She managed to convince Shunsui and three others to depart. However, in an argument with Shunsui, Sedna separated from her family, fearing too much that she’d lose them too if her husband followed his ideals.
After that, Sedna opted for early retirement on a remote island called Memory Peak in the Calm Belt about twenty years ago. All she wanted was to be left alone and keep to herself, and the people there were happy enough to oblige that notion. She’d been labeled a Yellowback. Someone running from something. And, she supposed that she was in many ways.
The news of Roger’s death later that year shook the world, even reaching as far as Memory Peak and causing unprecedented tragedy. Sedna looked on, thinking the youngsters were fools like her husband for their dreams. She’d seen too many dreams die in tragedy and heartbreak with only her left behind to carry on the memories that they’d even existed in the first place. What was the point of it all? Things settled back down on Memory Peak after the tragedy, still filled with those who were summarily done with the outside world, Sedna included.
For the next twenty years, Sedna remained on Memory Peak, alone. She only associated with others when absolutely necessary. So, when the day came that the island was all astir, Sedna noticed the change. Newspapers fell from the sky. Catching one, Sedna read about the events at Marineford and Whitebeard’s last words. What struck her wasn’t the confirmation that the One Piece was real, but his words with regards to his family. Something in them resonated with her.
Family. A family of her own. One that would mourn her death, when it came. She’d had it, and she’d so callously thrown it away. Out of what? Fear? Well, here was the answer. Plain and simple. Someone to carry on her will. More than a bloodline. She knew what she had to do. She had to start a fire. One that wouldn’t stop growing and burning ever. That way, she wouldn’t be forgotten. Her family wouldn’t be forgotten. They’d all carry on together, even after death.
