Freedom. What an amazing thing to have! It was something Roland had in spades since he had left, ditching his own shipping off to become a marine. No This is what he needed most of all now. Roland Arch needed to make his own path in life he was going to make his dream come true. Well, he needed freedom and people to help him achieve that dream, becoming the king of all things was no small task. He was going to need people who had a drive as big as his, determination as steely as his own. It was for that reason he wanted to get to his dream by first becoming the king of the pirates. Once the oceans and the most lawless men in the world were under his rule, he could expand to all the islands of the world.
Where was the best place to find a crew of wild and free individuals that had vast dreams and called themselves pirates? The Pirates Market of course! The young man had arrived mere minutes ago from a ferry, and managed to wander freely through a myriad of stalls. This place was everything he had dreamed of! People were walking around and selling their wares, there were scuffles and shouts over a variety of things like prices and places to set up shop. ‘This is it. This is where I’ll find someone to join me!’ The young man thought to himself as he wandered more.
Quickly the need for a drink and a spot of lunch had rumbled his belly. “Yeah, a crew can wait until I’ve eaten.” He muttered to himself before shifting his course to follow quite a pleasant smell of food that was drifting his way from a little further into the island. Not long after he made the decision the rumbling growl of hunger announced him to the world. “Yeah, I know buddy.” He spoke to himself, “I know…”
When he got to the source of the wonderful scent that had lured him, he stopped and chuckled. “Cross Bones Inn? Wow that is cliché!” The young captain to be said before pushing the door open to peer inside. It was dark, lit by a few lanterns on the sides and candles on each of the tables. Because it was only around lunch time the place was fairly full of people who were all there for the same reason. Food. Food that now Roland could see it looked too good to be true.
‘Welp, time to kill two birds with one stone.’ He thought to himself as a couple of patrons looked up from their meals and conversations to look at the rather scrawny looking fellow who was silhouetted in the door way. “Perfect.” Roland spoke so everyone could hear, his voice carried perfectly due to his fruit power. “I am going to be king of the world!” He announced with a large grin. “I’m looking for a crew and lunch. So who wants to give me a hand?” A shot at free food and potential crewmates? This was going to go amazing!
After a long and uncomfortable silence, a chorus of laughter erupted from nearly every patron in the spot. They were laughing so hard that people were slapping their knees and having tears form in the corner of their eyes. One of the bigger men who was laughing pointed to the young pirate and between fits of giggles spoke. “You couldn’t even be king of your own pillow fort kid!” This statement knocked people deeper into their laughter.
Ignoring the laughs the young King moved forward and let the door close behind him. ‘Sure, laugh it up now. But when I’m king I’m going to make you ALL scrub toilets.’ He thought to himself, keeping his smile as he sat at the bar.
