}Personality
Perfectionist Workaholic
Both one of Poppy’s greatest flaws and assets is her perfectionism. She cannot rest until the job gets done and gets done right. This is why she often stays up for long hours. She can’t find a stopping place in her work. She has to get it all done on time perfectly. She’s been labeled as a workaholic by her peers. Her superiors actually try to get her to work less because they’re worried about her health. She will not stop unless actually ordered to do so.
Overwhelmingly Thoughtful and Kind
Poppy considers treating her close friends and colleagues nicely to be incredibly important. As such, she’ll go out of her way to do nice things for them. She’ll bring coffee around for everyone, write cards and send a box of chocolates on holidays and birthdays. They aren’t big gestures, just nice little thing to let people know that she cares.
Exhausted Grouch
A byproduct of her insomniac lifestyle is that Poppy is always tired. Always. She doesn’t remember the last time that she wasn’t tired. Before the academy maybe. Sleep Deprivation has numerous effects on her, but the overriding result is that she comes off as crabby or aloof at a surface level. If asked, she’ll say she isn’t, but her tone is always harsher than she means for it to be, and she does get annoyed with little things easily.
Space Cadet
Her peers would say that Poppy is weird. That would be putting it lightly. Constant sleep deprivation has made Poppy more than a little loopy and detail obsessed. In conversation, she’ll sometimes only hear every other word or the tail end of a sentence, making people have to repeat themselves. Sometimes, her mind will very intensely focus on one thing like a song stuck in her head or a name that’s on the tip of her tongue to the point of obsession. Mostly though, it never seems like she’s all there.
Puzzle Lover
If there’s one thing that Poppy adores more than anything - even coffee - it is a good puzzle. Puzzles keep her mind sharp even in her sleep deprived state, and one can often find her doing the daily crossword or sudoku out of the newspaper. This trait has served her well in her role as an intelligence officer, and she can solve most puzzles with shocking ease.

Appearance
Poppy stands 5’11” (180 cm) tall. She has short, straight black hair with metallic looking orange-red underlights and a streak through her bangs. Her bright blue eyes are usually so sunken in and bloodshot that they appear black with dark rings underneath them. She has long eyelashes. She has a sharp, angular face and features to match. She usually wears dark lipstick and does her best to keep her eyebrows plucked and clean. She wants to present a perfect, professional woman!
Poppy runs a little hotter than most people, so she often wears loose, light clothes. A black tank top is her preferred top while sporty navy capris are the pants that she usually wears. She doesn’t go anywhere without her Marine officer’s uniform, but since she finds it dreadfully hot to wear, she ties it around her waist like one would a hoodie jacket. For shoes, sandals work just fine for her. She’ll dress up if it’s a formal occasion, but she will be dying of heatstroke.

}Traits
Inhuman Speed
Human Trait, Optional
Years of training in the academy have honed Poppy’s speed to levels that might be considered inhuman. She can move and run much faster than an ordinary person. Her speed isn’t enough to be considered blinding, but she’s extremely hard to hit while she’s moving.
Inhuman Strength
Human Trait, Optional
Poppy’s spent too much time training. According to her colleagues, she even trains in her sleep. All this physical conditioning has boosted Poppy’s strength far beyond normal levels. She can lift crazy weights that no normal person could ever hope to lift.
Hot Blooded
Human Trait, Negative
Whether due to some unknown medical condition or her usual sleep deprived state, Poppy just can’t handle heat. Tropical climates absolutely drain her energy and render her practically unable to move. A side effect of her being forced to stop and be still is that she pretty much immediately falls asleep when it gets too hot.

Fighting Styles
Nemuitō-ryū (眠い刀流) ”Sleepy Sword Style”
Focus: Swordsmanship, Deceptive Speed and Power
Class: E
Description:
More unintentional than not, Nemuitō-ryū is a sword style with very deceptive speed and power. All of the movements in the style come off as sluggish and weak when observed, which is why it can come as a shock when that sluggish blade carries with it incredible force or stunning speed. Even the evasive footwork looks more like dodging by luck than with actual skill.

Background
}Born on Ice Nine in the North Blue to a traditionally Marine family, Poppy grew up amid snow and ice. She had several older brothers who joined the Marines as soon as they were able, enlisting as soon as they came of age. Poppy’s parents never expected that of her, letting her pursue her interests as much as she liked. Her father, in particular, was always hesitant to talk about the Marines when she brought up her interest in joining, yet never hesitated to tell his old war stories and brag about her brothers’ accomplishments.
Perhaps due to her father’s protective attitude or relative indifference toward her interests, Poppy decided to rebel. She left home as soon as she turned eighteen, the night before her parents planned a big surprise party for her. She’d discovered a few days before by going through her family’s trash and mail that they had arranged a marriage for her with some prestigious noble in the Frost Kingdom. A bit of eavesdropping further uncovered that they were going to announce it at the party by having her fiance show up and meet her for the first time.
Poppy left a letter, harshly worded and a bit mocking for her family, and set off for Jreum Island where the North Blue’s main Marine Base was located. She enrolled in the prestigious officer’s academy there. While her brothers were still NCOs, she was gonna fly past them. A bit of petty revenge, but hey, she was petty. She studied extraordinarily hard, picking up the insomniac perfectionist habits that she’d later be known for. She took specialized classes and training to become an Intelligence Officer. She graduated at twenty-three years old with full honors and as Valedictorian of her class. Her family was invited, and Poppy watched them smugly from the stage.
After graduating, Poppy was given the rank Ensign and assigned to a division. When she thought she would finally get into some action, Poppy discovered, to her dismay, that she was relegated to desk jockeying. A couple weeks of investigating and Poppy discovered that her being confined to a desk was the work of her father pulling some strings to ensure that his baby girl would stay safe. Stewing in fury, Poppy put in for more than a few transfers to no avail.
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Poppy never let herself slack on her work, but the daily grind was soul crushingly boring and mundane. She was handed piles of endless and repetitive busy work. There was no hope of any action, much less swift promotion. Poppy was pretty sure that her father’s plan to keep her safe would backfire because she was going to die of boredom.
Everything changed one day when Poppy was manning the communications tower of B-1. While monitoring the black Den Den Mushi, she intercepted a call where the participants were most definitely speaking in code. The code sounded familiar to her, so she pulled out a book of World Government deciphered codes and ciphers. She eventually found what she was looking for in the book, and had the Den Den mushi playback the call several times until it was all well and truly puzzled out.
Revolutionaries would be attacking B-1 by infiltrating Jreum Island through the sewer system tonight! Specifically, in about an hour. Sounding the alarm and grabbing a few NCOs still on duty, Poppy raced down to the sewers. She took up a position in the control room where she could mess with the water levels and gates. Through cunning positioning of her troops and clever maneuvering, Poppy ousted all but one small group that managed to make it past her forces.
Stepping out of the control room, Poppy stood in the middle of the tunnel as the last line of defense. With her unorthodox sword style, she managed to dispatch and capture the remainder of the Revolutionary force by herself. For her efforts that night, she was awarded a promotion in rank to Lieutenant Junior Grade. Poppy hoped that this promotion meant that her superiors had finally recognized her efforts and that she’d finally be assigned to active duty.
