Here we go Boi! Sam
Warmth was a commodity the marines stationed on Taquila Wolf rarely had, so when it around in such abundance they leapt at the chance to take it. Rakka had never been one for the cold, and when he was first deployed, he never knew of anywhere that was ever as cold as the base the 22nd Division resided in. Hell, he had never thought it was possible. However, when after a mission turned sour and he still some how managed to get injured on a simple package pick up mission he was given a new assignment.
Captain Vaun Hertz had assigned Rakka Hoshiko, seaman recruit, to escort his fellow recruit Reynard Ayoki home for his requested shore leave. It was an unusual assignment but not one he was going to turn down. He got to spend some time with his best friend in the division and see his home town. Take in the culture and eat the snacks that he was given. He was also given one more assignment whilst in Goa Kingdom.
“Rakka,” Captain Hertz told the young recruit. “When you are escorting Reynard on his shore leave, I need you to find my old swimming instructor and hand him this.” The captain added, sliding a letter into Rakka’s hands.
That was Four days ago before the pair set off, now they have just made landfall and Rakka was just as confused as he was when he was given the order. ‘Why a swimming instructor? Captain Hertz knows I ate a devil fruit right?’ He asked himself as he watched his companion walk off of the ferry that had brought them to his homeland. The sounds of people milling about on their daily lives in the midday sun was all new to Rakka, it was amazing to be in a place so lively that wasn’t so cold!
“Good to be home Rey?” The marine recruit asked. He was stood holding a pair of large bags, one for himself and one of Reynards. Rakka was in more casual clothes as he was to not draw too much attention to Reynard on his time off relaxing… that fact only confused Rakka as to why he was even here in the first place. His Black T-shirt with the word Crude written on it seemed rather tight lately… had he gotten bigger since he started his deployment?
“Get your burgers here!” A food stall called in their direction, hoping to get the fresh and hungry arrivals to part with their cash for some easy eats. At the mere mention of burgers, the Marine felt a fire in his belly and had to take a moment to calm himself. Mari wasn’t here… the devil burger couldn’t hurt him anymore. It was gone now, a story in his life he never had to revisit.
