Personnel File
}Personality
Positively Adorkable
Kind, goodhearted, and positive, Reid is a veritable ray of sunshine. He’s a total nerd for music and will happily play the day and night away. He wants to help people and be friends with everyone. He wants to be accepted. He’s usually upbeat and will be a shoulder to lean or a person who will just listen. He doesn’t always have the answers, but he can always be there for his friends.
Lovable Idiot
Reid isn’t the brightest bulb. He lacks common sense due to being a shut in and has no mind for social cues. He just does the best he can and hopes that everything will turn out alright. This can get him into difficult situations that leave him wondering how he got there, powerless to escape. Sometimes his attempts to fix things only get him further embroiled in the thick of things.
Superstitious and Spooked
Being a spooky fellow himself, Reid believes in the supernatural and the strange. As such, he takes all necessary precautions to ward himself against the bad juju of the world. He scares easily, and absolutely hates and is riveted by ghost stories. If something especially frightens him, he probably won’t sleep for a week.
Hopeless Romantic
Reid adores things like the spirit of adventure and life on the high seas. Meeting beautiful mermaids and finding fabulous treasure are all pirate myths that he’s bought into hard. He likes to imagine himself the dashing hero swinging from ship to ship with cutlass in hand and damsel on his arm. Discovering the unknown, seeing impossible sights. These are all part of his dream for adventure. Unfortunately, reality tends to be less pleasant that his fantasies.
Bashful Bean
When it comes to expressing himself, Reid is timid as all get out. He’s shy, but really friendly. He just wants to make new friends wherever he goes. His social anxiety trips him up more often than not. He’s very self conscious about his appearance and doesn’t want to scare anyone with how he looks. He’s very worried about whether others will accept him. He fails to stand up for himself at all, but can speak up for his friends if the need arises. He might get beaten to a pulp for doing so, but that’s just a price that he’s willing to pay.
Appearance
A tall, thin man, Reid stands at 7’8” and is skeletally thin. His skin is entirely transparent so anyone can see right through to his bones. Most of his organs are knotted up in a core in his chest aside from the ones that belong in the head, which are also transparent. His barbels, or whiskers, stick out from his face right under his nose like a mustache. He has long black dreadlocks that he keeps tied up in a ponytail to keep it out of the way.
Despite his odd appearance, Reid likes to look dapper. He’ll generally opt for vests, bowties, and slacks with shiny polished shoes. During performances, he’ll wear a fancy tailcoat. In order to hide his more skeletal features from the general public, he’ll cover himself from head to toe in clothes. He wears a cape with a hood and a scarf to obscure his facial features. Gloves to hide his skeletal hands. He’s very shy for how tall he is among humans.

}Traits
Amphibious
Fishman Fixed Trait
Reid’s aquatic physiology allows him to breathe in the water and on land. He’s adapted to be able to move and perform normal movements even in the crushing depths. He’s also faster than most non aquatic races just due to his natural adaptations.
Spectral Strength
Fishman Fixed Trait
Doesn’t know his own strength is a phrase that almost perfectly describes Reid. He doesn’t realize that he’s actually quite physically powerful, and therefore does not utilize his strength to its fullest potential. When he’s not thinking about it, he can lift great weights that no ordinary person could dream of lifting. When he is thinking about it, he’ll be awkward and clumsy to the point of being a danger to himself and everyone around him.
Glass Catfish Physiology
Optional Starting Trait
Due to being born a Ghost Catfish Fishman, Reid has always had transparent skin, allowing his bones and other internal structures to be seen plainly. Most of his organs are bunched up in his chest in a spherical, black core except for the ones in his skull. His eyes are also transparent, and for these reasons, it’s easy for Reid to play dead. On top of that, he also has feelers or barbels that can detect electromagnetic fields and are highly sensitive.

Background
}Even when Reid was little, he knew that he was different from other people. He was… undead! Not really. But even when his mom tried to correct him, Reid still maintained that belief. How could he not? He could see his very bones! Something always got in the way when he tried to jab a finger between his ribs, but Reid just thought that was some black magic to protect his evil black core. Couldn’t be skin. He couldn’t see it! Plus, everyone was afraid of him, so that sort of undermined his mom’s assurances.
Eventually, his skeletal nature caught up to him and his mom. An angry mob ousted the two of them and sent them adrift. They moved out to a remote desert island where no one could bother them. There, they lived peacefully until Reid’s mother grew ill and eventually passed away. All alone, Reid passed the days practicing music and magic. That helped, but it didn’t heal the growing ache in his chest. He spent years like that.
One day, a group of strangers arrived on the island. Gathering up his courage, Reid went out to greet them covered from head to toe in clothes. Despite waddling over to them like a weirdo, it went well after he revealed that he was a Fishman too. They pulled him into their little circle and drank and made merry all night long. He even got drunk enough to take off some of the clothes he was wearing. At first, the Fishman were quiet, but then they called him cool!
In the morning, they invited Reid to go along with them to travel the world and sail the Grand Line. Reid happily took them up on their offer, packing his bags and setting off with them on their boat. It felt like a dream. They fought together, partied together, and so on. They even opened up to Reid about some of their tragic pasts. Most were former slaves who hated the humans that had kept them.
Reid couldn’t understand exactly how they felt, but he did his best to sympathize and cheer them up. They were free now! That was what mattered. Reid would realize too late how naive that thought was. The years went by, and more of the shadows of his new crew’s past became evident. Reid turned a blind eye to most. Oh, they’re not like that. My friends wouldn’t do that.
Then, there came a day when Reid could no longer turn a blind eye. They were raiding a small coastal town. Reid assumed it was because one of their former captors lived here, and they were out to steal his money to give to the less fortunate Fishmen! Or at least, that was what the Captain told him. What reason did he have to doubt him? Reid and his best friend Castor burst into one of the houses. They subdued the humans inside and got the information on a safe with all the valuables.
They went into the room only to find a small human child huddled in the corner next to the safe. Reid paused, seeing the expression of terror on her face. Castor didn’t hesitate. He lunged for the child. Reid just barely made it in time to stop him. An argument shortly led to a fight, which led to Reid fleeing with the girl in hand. Once they were far from the village, the girl pushed him away and called him a monster. She ran away, leaving Reid on his own.
Despite his better judgement, Reid returned to his crewmates that night. Castor had told the others about his betrayal, but Reid defended himself. The Captain stepped in, patting Reid on the back. All was forgiven. Reid felt hopeful that they’d listen to what he had to say after that. Just as he was about to explain that the raid went too far, they pulled the human girl out onto the deck. He felt his heart sink.
Reid was faced with a horrible reality. Kill the human girl and all would be forgiven. They handed him a sword and pushed him up to her. The fear in her eyes was mirrored in his own. The crew jeered and shouted. It was too loud. This was too much. Reid dropped the sword. It clattered onto the deck. In an instant, the girl was killed, and Reid was wounded. They threw him off the ship and left him to die.
Somehow, he survived. Reid chalked it up to being an undead. How could you kill what was already dead? He eventually washed up on a deserted island shore. Alone again. But being alone was preferable to being with friends like those. So, Reid went to make a life there. Where he wouldn’t scare anyone or lead them to their death ever again.
