Gabriel loved teaching, so when he was forced to take his father´s inheritance and become nobleman, he was relieved when he found a job as a history professor on local university. Since that day, his life was as peaceful as it could be. Fairly divided between his job, books, dogs and martial arts. Strangely as it may seem, he found joy in training the various combat arts he assembled from old manuals and scripts, despite lacking any real opportunity to try them in real life.
Despite his new status Gabriel was everything than typical noble. Waking up early in the morning, he went through his regular training before going outside to take care of his dogs, and only after that he start making his breakfast. Although he owned big estate on the edge of the city, Gabriel had only few servants and with sole exception of a handmaiden of his father´s wife not a single one of them was full time employee of his. Not that he would lack money, it was simply because he preferred to do everything himself if possible.
Two hours after waking up, well fed and dressed in his two piece suit he left his house towards the university he worked in. This short peaceful walks in the city were one of his most favorite parts of the day as they presented an opportunity to think. Going through the main square he remembered as a week ago weird swordsman run past him with a woman across his shoulder. Back than he thought for a second that he may try to help her, but discarded that idea really soon. After all he was history professor not a hero. This time, there were no mysterious swordsmen so he get to the university half an hour before his first lecture. Right in time to prepare everything. He was just a few steps away from his cabinet, when he was stopped by familiar voice.
“Ah, Gabriel, good to see you. That new assistant of yours just arrived, she is waiting for you in the cafeteria.”
Said Lucius one of his few new friends and professor of mechanics, as he was passing by him.
As far as he knew, he wasn´t supposed to get one, so what was that supposed to mean? With a stern look on his face he changed his direction to the cafeteria.
