No march and drills! A Day off in Shell Town!

Koda was still in his bunk... seamen were snoring all around him. Probably still knocked out from the previous days training. A hand fell from the bunk above Koda almost slapping him in the face. He furrowed his brow in disappointment but at the same let out a sigh of relief. It was 4:59 AM from the looks of the clock. The Kabuki actor turned his face to look at the blinded window next to him.

The sun's rays peering the thin cracks in the window blind. It would literally just be a minute before Lieutenant Commander Erikkson would walk into the room yelling at the top of his lungs making sure all the seamen stood up on their feet. Typical of this sort of place but perhaps it could be worse.

Shell Town and by extension its Marine base was rather quaint... it was quite large for Blue standards too. Sure it didn't compare to the base back at home in Arabara where Koda had trained but it was something. Not that he could compare the bases anymore... last he heard Arabara had been ransacked by some crazy pirate chick. Gritting his teeth he was very much glad he'd been spared that pain in the neck. As a temporary guest of this base, he felt rather grateful... so maybe he shouldn't judge it all too hard.

SLAM

The door to the bunk room was slammed open startling Koda who was lost in thought and rudely waking up the light sleepers. It was Lieutenant Commander Erikkson dressed in his big white coat... wearing his squeaky black boots that made Koda want to tear off his ears.

"GET ON YER FEET SISSIES!"

He yelled, immediately Koda got up and so did the lot men who stood up straight ready for roll call. Admittedly, Koda wasn't expecting to receive this sort of treatment when he came. He was an agent... not a soldier... but it seemed like this Lieutenant Commander fellow didn't care. Or at least he'd made it very clear when Koda arrive that he'd be treated like just another Seaman despite his status.

It was something that annoyed Koda a bit. The only difference between him and regular Seamen was that he had a bit more freedom and could leave to work on missions if he wanted to. But other than that he was treated just like one. He was expected to partake in drills, march, and train along with the rest.

"That's good! Time for roll call!"

Lieutenant Commander Erikkson began, but before he could start calling off names someone in the group spoke up. It was kind of scary... speaking up was not exactly something Erikkson tolerated. Much less when it was to interrupt him.

"Permission to speak sir!"

The Seaman yelled, he was sweating as he said those words. Erikkson turned around to look at him. His straight face was hard to gauge... even for Koda who was trained to read body language.

"Permission granted Seaman Toussaint! But next time be mindful to not interrupt me."

Every Seaman in the room wiped the sweat off their foreheads, Koda included... it seemed Lieutenant Commander Erikkson was in a good mood. Which was a good thing? Otherwise, they'd probably be doing two-hundred push-ups for him or something absurd like that.

"Well, sir... um, today is a break day... it's the 23rd."

If the room went silent. If the atmosphere was tense before it was even tenser now. Koda blinked nervously, he wasn't sure how to react... taking a look at a nearby calendar on the wall he was right! The Seaman was right.

"Well... my mistake... I didn't notice... you're all free to go then. I guess... heh."

Erikkson replied a bit awkwardly, his face turning to a bright shade of pink. There was still no sound from the seamen but that would change soon. The Lieutenant Commander bowed to everyone and excused himself from the bunk... as he did so all the Seamen began to cheer!

Break days were few and far between so it was very much welcome. However, knowing that... it still stunk that they'd been woken up for nothing. Koda sighed sitting down on his bunk. He couldn't believe it was a break day. Much less what he would do on this break day! Only time would tell he assumed.

Yuko stretched and looked around her, the Marine base’s bar littered with a bunch of passed out recruits and even a handful of officers. Today being a day off for most of the base meant a few of her fellows thought it would be a good night to party. Of course like just about every band of idiots she’s ever met, they invited Yuko to the festivities. It had been a fun night, or rather it would have been if any of these loses could hold their drinks.

What a group of weaklings, a measly seven hours of partying and they were all passed out. Back in her hometown a party only ever really started after the twelfth hour, granted it had been populated by filthy pirate degenerates, but still she had hoped that knowing how to party had not been something only pirates and degenerates knew of how to do. It was overall disappointing.

Having decided to give up on the lot in the bar, the red haired young woman stepped out of the building. Urgh… the sun was already out and was so bright. Yuko sadly did not have a pair of sunglasses with her; the woman’s mini-shorts were too tight to fit anything and her open sleeveless marine top’s pocket were already used for smokes and lighter respectively. She had tried to put glasses or other stuff in her bikini top’s cleavage before but it just made drunks handsy so she opted not to anymore, unless she needed to find an excuse to beat up someone.

Resigning herself to the sun the tanned redhead scratched the back of her head before stretching her back and arms. She would need to find somewhere else to be soon or the buzz would start going away, probably won’t be too far to find a bunch of stooges to pay for her drinks.

At the corner of her vision she saw something stir slowly, before emitting a very annoying series of sounds. “Uuuuuuh… hehe.. Is this heaven?” Just another passed out drunk seaman. It was honestly hard to be this beautiful Yuko often thought to herself. Men, and sometimes women, just bothered her all the time. She could stretch or speak her mind without morons crawling out the woodwork. Lighting on her smokes, the tattooed woman did bother to reply to the ogling drunk without even bothering to look at the man. “No it’s not. But if you don’t look away now you’ll be in hell very soon jerkwad.”

Sure enough the drunken seaman looked away and began to limp away from her and the bar. Man that pissed her off. So what she liked to be comfortable and the fact was having too much of her covered was not. Being smokin’ hot and having a punch of tattoos was not an open invitation to stare.

The woman began to walk towards the middle of the training yard of the base to clear her head. This being a day off meant there wouldn’t be anyone there, except maybe the occasional training maniac, well it would be a good enough spot to clear her head a bit. Maybe she would go to town later and find some other place to have some fun, maybe she’ll even start a fight. If there was one thing she had to admit to disliking about being a Marine was the whole “not starting fights and bar brawl” bit, but she understood it and complied with the rules… most of the time. However if she was just having some down time and some jerk decided to get mouthy or handsy well… then she would be perfectly within her right to give a beat down.

A small smile drew itself on Yuko’s lips as she was smoking her cigarette. Yeah… the thought of a good ol’ bar fight cheered her up. Maybe she should go to the barracks and drag a bunch of the men out to town with her, she had yet to find a barrack where she could not get some of the recruits to follow her around when she wanted to. Truly; it was hard to be this beautiful.

Despite being quite early it seemed like the streets were rather lively. It was already around 6:15 am by the time Koda got out of the base... he was looking to eat in town and not eat what they gave him back in the base. He wasn't particularly fond of grey slop... that was something the base back at home had better than here. Actual cooks! But that was probably a product of less funding than anything else.

Many good things came from a day off. Better food was one. But there was more! Koda could wear his comfortable clothing... his kimono and geta. To him, they felt much comfier than a Tuxedo or any Marine uniform he was forced to wear. The lanky eight-foot man had a smile plastered on his face showing off his shark-like smile as he walked through the streets of Shell Town. He hoped today would be a good day!

“No, it’s not. But if you don’t look away now you’ll be in hell very soon jerkwad.”

Koda went pale for a moment, was someone talking to him? He didn't quite hear the first part all that well. So right now he was in a bit of a panic. However, soon he noticed that the aggressive line was not intended for him. But rather for a bumbling drunk seaman... he also noticed the words came from a rather beautiful woman.

All things considered, she was gorgeous! Her figure, hair, skin, everything there wasn't a part of her that wasn't pleasing to the eye. Koda had seen some beautiful women in his lifetime but most of them paled against this one. He couldn't help but blush at the cigarette smoking hussy in front of him.

"Yoooo! Good morning!"

Finally, after a bit of awkwardness, he mustered the will to wave and greet her. Not doing so would be rude. Right? Koda silently looked at her for a solid thirty seconds before averting his eyes. Koda knew her type just by looking at her dressing style and posture. The rough and tough sort. They knew they were pretty and used it to their advantage. One look and he could already profile her. People like her were better avoided at all costs... the Agent put on a straight face using his acting skills to put up a facade. On the outside, he now looked unamused, but on the inside he was mildly uncomfortable. If this wild lady was perceptive at all she would notice the almost unnatural shift in expression. Koda's acting was good... but he felt under stress making his shifts sloppy. If his state of mind was better he'd put on that straight face the moment he saw her. But instead, he faltered. 

Pacing himself forward Koda walked to try and find a place to eat. His attempt was to walk past this red-headed beauty ignoring her. As he did so he felt a bit of guilt... maybe she wasn't that bad? Then again the way she spoke to the other seaman. The tone in her voice. It was mildly terrifying. Koda shook his head. 'I shouldn't second guess myself.' He thought to himself.

Yuko didn’t even have to take more than a couple steps before someone called out to her. Seriously who was already up and trying to pick up girls at this hour? The young woman looked in the direction the voice came from, admittedly the sight was not quite what she expected. Wasn’t everyday one saw a freaking eight feet tall man with purple hair and sharp pointy teeth. That was an A-class weirdo if she ever saw one.

The redhead just kind of stared at the strange man as he began to wave in a greeting who returned the look, or maybe he was actually just ogling her, it was hard to say with the dude’s jet black eyes. Regardless after a few seconds the sharp tooth man averted his gaze while continuing to walk in Yuko’s direction.

In fact the purple haired guy’s entire demeanour changed as he continued to walk until it appeared as if he didn't even acknowledge Yuko’s existence anymore. What the hell was this guy? Eventually he just attempted to walk right past the young woman as if nothing happened. Did he mistake her for someone else and was just awkward now? No way, nobody looked like her, that was both the greatest blessing and curse of her life. So what the hell was up with this dude?

As the man was a few steps past Yuko she turned around to call out and confront the guy. “Yo, what’s your deal? You call out to people then ignore them? That’s freaking rude you know.”

She still wasn’t sure exactly what she was going to do with this weirdo. Depending on his answer she could let him with a little cussing or maybe she’ll let him treat her to some grub. If he proved to be ass though, Yuko was now in a bad move and was starting to think a beat down could be a good way to release some stress. Regardless the ball was now in the court of Toothie o’er there.

At least one thousand red flags went off in Koda's head at that very moment. This woman was trouble of the highest caliber. He'd seriously been banking on the woman being too distracted to notice him. Then again perhaps that was something dumb to be banking on.

After all, they were the only two people around, and even if there were more people around Koda and this lady would stand out like red dots against a whiteboard. Koda for his overall exotic weirdness and this lady for her extreme beauty. So even in an ideal situation the odds were likely still against him.

"Er... oh... I didn't mean to it's just you seemed busy so I greeted you and then decided it was best to be on my way."

Koda managed to blurt out, beads of sweat now forming around his forehead. He felt a nervous heat come from his chest and up to his face. The same kind that happens when you feel in danger... his mouth went dry and his heart began to beat faster.

The Kabuki really didn't want to get on this lady's bad side... or well any side in general. He was looking to avoid her but that had seemingly failed. So he began to evaluate the situation in his head a bit. In the context of things, he couldn't be rude and defensive. That would only make things get worse. He also didn't want to bend over and let her get her will. But at the same time perhaps the only means to appease the beast was to give her what she wanted.

"My apologies for my oversight. It was indeed rude of me to simply walk past you."

The Agent did a slight bow and smiled, never keeping his jet eyes away from the woman. No, it wasn't because he didn't want to stop looking at her hypnotic looks. Although perhaps that did play a part in the situation.

However, the reality was he didn't want to keep his eyes off of her because he didn't know what her next reaction would be. She was an atomic woman. Volatile with hair and eyes like flames full of fury. Koda didn't know her well, after all they'd just met. But he could pick up on the finer hints. The way she spoke and how she carried herself. He swallowed dryly before standing up back straight.

"Now, if there is anything I can do to make up for it please do let me know. My parents raised a proper man. Not a mongrel."

Koda forced a chuckle clenching his teeth slightly. There was an air of annoyance within the last parts of his sentence. Almost as if spitting this all out was painful for him. He really didn't know why his usual persona was faltering... he was a good liar. A proud liar! An actor in fact. He could usually keep his cool in almost every situation but this redheaded lady was proving to be more trouble then he could handle.

The Kabuki unclenched his teeth letting himself go lose a bit. 'This is ok, just take this as training... polish yourself and you can be a better agent. Besides there is a potential you can hang out with a good looking lady.' Koda thought to himself. If anything else he'd try to be positive with the situation. Being negative would most definitely not help.
