Suspecting it was one thing, but seeing his suspicion confirmed was totally different. Especially since it was confirmed in such a weird way.
I know I asked for this, but hell does that annoy me, he thought as he saw the cat turn into a mirror image of himself. Well... nearly a mirror image, as he didn't have a cat tail, let alone two of them, but the sly kitten didn't seem to want to give up on that advantage.
At least she had taken the bait and changed for him, justifying his little gamble. Even if it wasn't going to help him in the fight against the pirate, at least he had definitive knowledge about her powers now and that alone was worth a lot.
With his eyes on his fake twin, Rince backed away, slowly enlargening the distance between them, and nearly stumbled over the broom that was left lying on the floor. It wasn't by much but enough so he could get time to react once she went for another attack – and there was no doubt that she would. If anything the cat had proven to be rather aggressive.
„Seeing you like this is much more annoying than I expected. Honestly, I really really want to smash in that face of yours.“ he told her, not carrying that it was basically his own face he was talking about. Even her voice was like his, rough and husky with an unpleasant edge in it.
What could possibly be more infuriating that to see someone you hate right in front of you? And for once he had the chance to hit that person whitout hurting himself in the process. That is, if he could actually get a hit in.
For a moment he considered attacking first, his emotions driven high by his opponent's appearance, but of course the cat didn't leave him much chance for that but attacked herself.
Again she tried to attack with multiple weapons, but this time she came from both sides and from the middle.
Rince let his weapon drop to get his hands free and instead he put one foot under the broom and kicked it up, so he could grab it with both hands and bat away the stab against his center.
With the same motion he blocked the low swung blade, the broom was long enough for that, but there was nothing he could do against the scabbard aimed at his shin. He just had to endure it and hope that no bones would be broken.
„Boy! Catch!“ The marine captain's voice shouted out to him and having already used his devil fruit powers earlier today, he used them again on reflex as he didn't have a hand free to catch whatever the Captain was throwing him.
Something hard and heavy hit his shoulders and when Rince raised one hand to grab it, something went „click“ around his wrist and a heavy fatigue engulfed his whole body. On instinct he swung his arm, wanting to get the seastone handcuffs off, but they had already closed around his hand and it didn't matter that his other hand was still free and the second cuff was loose, one of them was more than enough to affect a DF user like him.
He flailed around with his last bit of strenght, but it was soon leaving him. He already lost the grip of his broom and his knees were growing weak as well.
To be caught with seastone handcuffs, his situation could hardly grow any worse...
