Having probably been trained by her big brother, the girl managed to climb up quite gracefully, brachiating herself through the branches until she was nearly up with Rince.
The boy held out a leaf-covered hand to her in an unusual gentlemanly attempt to help her with the last step. She was probably not in need of it, seeing as she had been so quick to get up to here, but by holding out his hands he wanted to indicate to her that she should go even higher. If she was below him or at the side, she might get into his way so it would be better if she climbed up to the branches above him.
At first it looked like she was going to accept his hand. No surprise there. Rebby had always been the nicer of the two siblings. Compared to Bat Boy, it was rather easy to seem nice, though the girl seemed to be genuinely so.
For a moment he was wondering what kind of impression she was getting from him.. all covered in leaves and the like, did she even recognize him? But then those thoughts got pushed back to the deeps of his mind as the girls hand went past his own outstretched one and hit the branch he was sitting on.
„Huh?“
The strong branch snapped as if it had been nothing more than a little twig, and Rince now without anything to support him was falling down the tree for a second time today.
„Ouch- ouch- ouch -ouw!“
Rince was hitting branch after branch as he tumbled down from his hiding spot. With a big thump he collided with the ground and came to a stop. The leaves that had covered him were still mostly sticking to him, though some who had been ripped off by the fall were now joining him again.
The only luck he had was that both net, fishing rod and the one spear he had been holding in his hands had been close enough to simply stick to him instead of falling after him and landing on his head as they would have undoubtly done if his powers had not been activated.
His back aching worse than before, the boy wiggled his toes and then went on to check his other limbs. Everything was still moving as it should, although moving them was painful, so his spine was not broken, thank... well, not really thanks to anyone, though if he had broken something it would have been Rebby's fault.
What was that?! Was she trying to kill him too?
Well... he should have expected that. The girl must have gotten her brother's hate for him or something like that. It didn't really matter why. What mattered was that she seemed to be out for his life as well.
He picked himself up, spear in hand and with the most angry frown he could muster through the pain, he looked up at the girl who was sitting in HIS hiding spot.
Then he heard the rustling again, just behind him. With reflexes that were not made to be used with such a battered body, Rince picked up the net that had fallen with him and threw it at the sound.
The net opened up and felt over something small, hardly more than apple-sized and black.
The haggis gave him a questioning look then simply went through the net as the knots had been made big enough for him to slip through.
„Oh! It's you!“ Now Rince was feeling stupid as well as hurting. The kitten was still out there and here he was distracted by Bruce and Rebecca.
The haggis white fur was black from the fire, but otherwise the haggis seemed no worse than always. Indeed it looked rather genki and ready for another round. Rince noticed that Bruce was looking up to Rebby, having noticed the girl.
„Yeah, be careful about her. She's might try something as well.“ Though if he could prevent it, Rince would rather not attack her himself. It was not hard to guess how Bat Boy would react to that.
Bruce chirped and pointed to the girl, saying something Rince could not understand.
He looked up again, keeping the new enemy in his sight, ready in case she would try to attack again.
„What? What was that? Forget it, I'll watch the girl, can you keep a nose and an ear open for the kitten?“
