Today's Luck: Bad Fortune for Virgos and Pisces
There was a loud and sinister growling to be heard over the sound of the crashing waves. It was the sound of Rince's stomach rumbling. The teenage boy was sitting at the lonely beach on one of the rocks that formed the little bay and was fishing with a makeshift fishing rod.
So far he had had no luck and he was starving.
The island was not very abundant when it came to food. There were little to no fruit trees and those that existed sported fruits of the sort that should have had a big „Do not touch!“ sign on them. Some plants had seeds that were eatable, but unlike his little companion, Rince wasn't really able to get by on a handful of meager seeds alone and the only eatable animals he had found were insects and earthworms, which was the reason he was now fishing.
The head of the piece of wood he was using as a float started to bob up and down, something had caught on!
Carefully Rince started to pull the line back, easing it bit by bit, inch by inch, so that the fish would not suddenly escape his grasp. There was already a dark shadow below the water surface in front of him and the pink-haired boy gave the line one more courageous tug.
A fire red fish with nasty but beautiful looking fin rays came shooting out of the water and the teenager was only barely able to dodge his own catch. The lionfish landed in a waterfilled depression in one of the rocks where it continued to fidget wildly.
Using the big sharp stone he had prepared to kill his catch, Rince cut through the line and left the fish where it was. He wasn't going to risk getting poisoned, just to throw the fish back into the water, even if he wasn't going to eat it.
Not wanting to stay near the venomous animal, Rince left the spot and set up again a few hundred meters farther away. He pulled a simple hairclip out of his bag and twisted it into a hook shape, then attached it to the line and took an earthworm from his pocket to use as a lure.
The he tried again.
