Roland was saying something again. Against her better judgement, Rosie slowly processed what he was saying. It sounded vaguely like he was going to say something incredibly stupid again. He was very mistaken in thinking that she had transported him to this island to fight him alone. Though, come to think of it, that did mean some ambiguous third party had brought them both here. To…fight each other? Hm. Perhaps another pirate group… or maybe even the Revolutionaries? Or perhaps some other criminal organization.
As Roland neatly dodged out of the way again, Rosie sighed in response. A well earned sigh. For how bulky the man was, he was surprisingly light on his bear feet. Straightening up to her full height, she adjusted her glasses and froze when he suggested that she was secretly in love with him. Hm. No. She wanted to spend not a second more on this island in the company of this idiot. Death would be preferable. She wasn’t about to give the mysterious third party the fight that they apparently wanted either.
So, Rosie simply reverted to her human form and turned her back to Roland, pointedly headed toward the water. She wondered if it would be a fast death, drowning. She shrugged to herself and stepped a little way into the surf. Unfortunately for her, the shallows only came up to around her ankles. She kept walking but even after a few more steps, it was still around her ankles. Why did fate conspire against her?
“Hm. It seems like drowning myself is off the table then,” Rosie muttered loud enough for Roland to hear. She was sure that she could have gone out further and gotten to deeper water, but the moment was gone. She turned back to Roland and sighed again. “I did not transport you to this island to fight me. If I had captured you, you would have met with the gallows by now. Which leads me to wonder… who brought us here? Perhaps they merely wanted a show, but I prefer not to entertain them. Do you?”
