Red eyes, dull and greying opened to the sight of darkness. It was of nothing, the barest sliver of light was pouring through a slit in the darkness. Was that light hope? Or despair? There was no telling, even time seemed incomprehensible from within here. When had she last heard the voice of another, felt anything but numbing pain.
Fight A single word rang through her mind, but she had not the energy to do so. Not bound as she was, her arms pulled backwards behind her locked together thrice by metal bindings. She hung from them from the ceiling, of this she was fairly certain. It was bare but weight pulled at her shoulders. Another counterweight pulled at her feet to straighten her out. She'd long since stopped resisting the weights and allowed the pain to exist.
How long had it been? She had no answer, closing her eyes once again hoping that sleep would take her.
Elsewhere at Sea ....
From the bow of the ship the island was now visible. Many eyes watched as that town came fully into view. It was nestled among the large stone plateaus that rose up on either side. Doubling as the main port at Kenzan Island it was growing into itself before them. For many the view was a new sight to see. But for one it was a familiar sight.
Not much had changed, he supposed that was to be expected. How many years had it been since he first arrived at this island. This was one of the great boxing hubs of the world, where he'd come to learn, train, and grow. It was one of many memories for him, that much was true. "Fond memories?" The deckhand's voice tugged him away from his sentimentality. "Not really." Jaq responded as he turned to face Max. The deckhand was looking up at the pillars of rock that rose far taller than the island.
"Just small victories and large defeats ... Debts to be paid." Jaq said reminded of his time in the Boxing Circuit here at Kenzan. Where at Coast Nostra he'd been one of the best, he'd only been middling here. The difference between him and the top, it'd been a vast gap. One that he'd planned to close before his power had been found out.
Max folded his arms looking at Jaq will unnecessarily kind eyes. "Sounds like at the very least you had an interesting time on Kenzan."
The boxer paused, glancing at Max and then over his shoulder back to Kenzan. "Aye, it was interesting." Jaq showed a smile.
"Get ready to dock!" Arlen's voice called across the group from where he stood at the rear-upper deck.
Jaq looked across towards the quartermaster, the man already had his rifle shouldered and a familiar blade sheathed at his side. It was the look of a man who was ready, and he wasn't the only one. He'd said to get ready, but here standing on deck were most of the crew already equipped and ready for what was to come. Jaq grinned heat rose in his body, a warmth from within. The boxer smiled turning about once more to look at the town coming up before them.
Just you wait Syphalia, we're coming.
