Zira sat comfortably beneath her umbrella with a slushy alcoholic beverage in one hand, and a thick book in the other. The mink had one long leg draped over the other, hoof propped up in the air tapping nothing to some unknown jingle in her head. She casually sipped the straw of her fishbowl sized drink, trying to enjoy the slushy green mix before it melted and lost its chill. The day was a warm one, sun blazing unforgivingly overhead making the Zebra sweat beneath her fur. And yet she didn’t seem uncomfortable. The world blazed by as she lost herself in her latest book. Families and nobles, off duty marines and criminals alike enjoyed the gorgeous white-sanded beach and the crystal blue-green waters splashing against the shore. A short distance away was a group of kids building a lavish sand castle, while what seemed like a squad of off duty marines engaged in a game of volleyball in regulation swimwear.
“Another drink miss?” Zira had lost track of time, and glanced over to her fishbowl glass which had barely a few sips sloshing around the base. She looked up to the source of the voice, a young but generally annasuming human man wearing the uniform of a beach attendant. She raised the glass and smiled.
”Please! And some water if you would? Don’t want to get dehydrated and miss out on such a beautiful day!” The man simply smiled, took her drink, and made his way through the crowds back to a booth out of sight. Zira had to admit she loved this place. She was tired of being on the run. And despite there being plenty of Marines here, none of them knew her in this blue. To her knowledge, no bounty had been placed on her yet. So leaving the East blue was probably the right call. Ever since coming here, she could finally relax in addition to doing her research. She used a little spare money to buy a nice three piece swimsuit consisting of a two piece bright green-yellow swirled bikini and a translucent-silk aqua skirt that came below her knees. Zira then dedicated the first week of her time here to relaxing, saving work for later.
As she waited, she set down her book, the Doctor Boof’s Encylopedia of Benign Genetic Disorders. It was a gripping text offering some unconventional theories regarding unique forms of humanoids and half breeds throughout the world, as well as some of the medical complications that come with treating them. It had very little information on Minks to her displeasure, but it seemed pretty rare to find anyone familiar with her race on this side of the Red Line.
Zira relaxed, watching the kids play for a short time, before getting distracted by the Marine’s playing their game. There was a female marine in particular that got her attention who was giving it all she had to outplay the men, and she was succeeding quite well. Smirking, Zeera turned back to the sea. She spied something on the horizon, likely just a ship either incoming or outgoing. Ignoring the sight, she laid back and waited for her fresh beverage. After a short couple minutes the young man came back, placing a small folding table next to her on the sand. He then placed a cloth on it, as well as a pitcher of water and a fresh drink. Zira thanked him and gladly filled a glass of water before returning to her book.
