In response to the boney-white stone being thrown into the distance, a herd of pillar monsters came scuttling towards them with what sounded like multiple legs. The fog trailed behind them, wavering with their movements, and as they rushed towards the two humans plus the cat, their true form was revealed. They possessed six red legs at their flanks and a pair of pincers at their front along with curly appendages extruding out from their comically towering marble-white pillars that made up their shells. These ten pillar-shelled crab monsters employed a simple strategy of surrounding the humans from all side, outmaneuvering them through their unexpectedly nimble speed.
On standby, she first observed what Kite tries to do as the silver-haired man attempts to weave his way out but failed to do so. Trapped at the center, the brunette made a sweeping glance around her surrounding as these towering crustaceans kept a rather tightly-knitted circle formation. One of the hostile crabs lashed out with their pincers at the man; those claws pinched the air, sounding like a nasty pair of scissors. With their superior size and weight, the crabs were not afraid to tackle towards them.
Miu rested a hand on top of the feline’s back to have him feel assured that she would protect him. With fluid and graceful movements, the girl weaved and ducked around the incoming pincers before jumping on top of the crab’s arm for a moment before leaping several meters upwards. Fingers and feet clung onto the side of the crab’s tower-like shell that was made up off pebbles and boulders, granting many groves and rough surfaces to keep a firm grip. The brown-haired climber scaled up towards the very top before squatting there on her hands and feet, keeping a low center of gravity to balance herself. Away from the nasty claws down below, she watched with a higherup view to give herself the bigger picture of the situation at hand.
From the looks of it, the crabs had divided themselves up evenly such that half of them were targeting one of the two humans, meaning she and Kite had to deal with five of them. With a quick glance at the silver-haired bounty hunter, she saw the usual lack of self-control. The man looked as if he was ready to go wild in an uncontrolled rampage, but being outnumbered without any weapons, he was sure to lose in a bloody fashion.
The grey-furred cat mewled to her, calling to her attention towards the flank as a neighboring crab was just about to ram into the one that she was standing on top of. Reflexively, she leaped upwards before the collision of to towering shells before landing on top of the assaulter’s shell as the previous crab toppled over. These creatures were best suited towards fighting those on ground level, but they didn’t seem to have means to fight someone who’s above them. Unlike the bounty hunter, she was not the type to brawl but to playfully circumvent obstacles.
Kite, on the other hand, was still on ground level, pushing into one of the crabs to attack, leaving his back completely exposed to be attacked. And a crab did indeed take advantage of that opening, using a pair of tiny, finely-controlled claws to brandish a pair of knives that seemed awfully familiar to Miu. What a coincidence. Kite just so happened to have lost a pair of knives as well. On top of all that, the crab was wielding a lot more than weapons that just that, including spears and swords.
“KITE!” Miu’s voice pierced through the air sharply. “BEHIND YOU! WATCH YOU BACK!”
The cat mewled, not towards the man but towards the girl who quickly leaped away as another crab came rushing in to crash onto the formation of her foothold. This time around, Miu landed back on the ground. A few residue of rocks clattered towards her, pieces of chipped fragments from the precious impact. She picked them up for possible throwing tools before quickly taking his opportunity to make a run for it. With a few of these crabs ramming in to each other and dealing with two separate targets, their formation was no longer a closely-knitted circle.
With the cat resting on her shoulder, keeping watch for any ambushes, the brunette sprinted off, quickly being pursued from behind.
