"What was that?" she whispered to herself. Jan looked to her hands with bewildered blue eyes; she felt a lapse in memory and the sight in front of her was forward in time from the last time she blinked. Had something happened here?
Before any answers could manifest, she saw the man attacking Ruby aim a gun straight for her. "Wha-!?" The terribly confused woman blocked herself with both arms in front of her face – even with her view obstructed, she squinted her eyes tight for she did not wish to see the bullet strike her face. Ruby shouted out at her as a warning but it was too late. The ammunition had already been shot and soon it would hit....Yet enough time passed and her doom did not manifest. Jan cautiously looked up from her hands and flinched when a gray pebble came floating past her proximity. She lowered her guard and saw Ms. Ruby victorious over the body of the assailant; her skin was gleaming gold! What a weird day it is, she thought.
The girl then shook her head and slapped her cheeks to make sure this was not some dream she was living in. But the first thing she could see was that same darn ball spinning around her body. What is this thing? Matter of fact, where the heck is that bulle- wait. NO. WAY. She reached out with one hand and grasped onto the orbiting fragment. The woman brought it close and inspected to confirm that it was indeed the metallic ball shot from the stranger's pistol. Jan's eyes bugged out as she squealed to herself, still gawking at the miracle in her hand. In the near distance, Ms. Ruby could be heard asking if she was unharmed and the janitor made eye contact with her friend while holding the bullet between her finger and thumb.
"Y-yes. I have no idea how, but I'm very very alright...Um...I think we should leave by the way." Her blue eyes stared at the man on the floor before looking back to her accomplice. This was not looking for the two of them at all.
