The docks were busier than the rest of the cavern - where they had only encountered a few small groups of workers along the way, here was the hub of activity, with men lifting crates and directing carts pulled by those giant frogs up and down ramps connecting three of the five ships at the underground harbor. There was even a building that Lilin quickly identified as being some sort of tavern to complete the picture of what a harbor should be - a gently glowing orange light was visible even from behind the smaller stone building, dwarfed by its nearby warehouse neighbors.
"Can tha take the picture from here?" Lilin whispered, peeking out from behind the tavern - sure, they could get closer, but the pair would be in the middle of the activity if they attempted it. Of the five ships in the harbor, the diminutive woman could clearly pick out that two were pirate vessels, both flying their custom symbols - one a more traditional Jolly Roger, the other one of those newer "Smile"-type symbols that seemed to be picking up in popularity recently.
Mary's head poked out from the building, a few inches over Lilin's. "Oh, yeah, for sure. Hopefully whatever party's going on will drown out the noise of m y camera?" The reporter pulled her gaze from the ships ahead of her to look down at the impish woman, who merely shrugged in response. "Well, here goes nothing, right?" And then the camera was pulled up, brought to her eyes, preparing to take the shot...
The flash of light, the sound of the shutter, and a bang! all happened at the same time - and a moment later, the piercing sounds of a siren and a voice notifying everyone in the cavern that there were intruders. Lilin had her hands over her ears, her eyes screwed shut and teeth gritted to try to get through the sudden headache she was experiencing. Beside her, Mary was staring down at her camera in a state of confusion and shock - as if she believed her camera to be the sole cause.
"Wh-what do we do now?" The orange-haired girl looked to Lilin now, her shock and confusion turning to fear, her voice faltering a bit. The girl looked younger than ever - the bold determination was gone, giving way to what was clearly just a scared teenage girl.
The bright overhead lights caught Lilin's glasses in just the right way as she pushed them up the bridge of her nose, hiding her gaze in the reflected light. "Now? Soonish, girl, they'll know that we're here, for true - but they aren't making haste for us, aye? So let's keep our heads low-like and see if you can't get any more damning evidence."
