Emerging from the alleyways and on to the main boulevard where the sun was setting Navi was walking straight to the marine base. The red light of the setting sun washing over him and the quiet sounds of the waves washing over the beach reassuring him this was the right thing to do. The explosion and destruction of the Luna Lagoona and todays massive storm had scared away all but the most dedicated of drinkers, the ones who were not scared of their bar being bombed. Today could have gone so differently, but instead the marines had to turn a blind eye to a damn tragedy.
The few sounds of partying the now cleaned up man put a smile on his face, something that covered up the angry look he was sporting, it made him feel like he joining in, but alas, he couldn’t, not yet. For he had a mission, to send a message to the marines and to get the final revenge for his new found friend and sister in battle, Coco Valentine. He had to make it right for all the people of the Luna Lagoona and the bounty hunters guild that was wronged by it when they let pirates run unchecked.
As he arrived outside the base, a recruit was just leaving carrying a case full of money, the young man recognised the cleaned up bear of a man, quickly offering a nod and a smile before walking on. “Oh Miss Valentine will get her reward, I’m taking it to her now. The Captain said she deserves it.” He said before carrying on without waiting for a reply, nor did he question why Navi was there in the first place. If he did the whole situation would have played out differently, maybe Navi would have took Coco’s money and gone back to her, but no. Navi wasn’t distracted from his plan.
Bang Bang Bang. “Captain! Remember me?!” Navi shouted as he kept on banging on the large wooden door that lead into the base, his knocking, and shouting getting the attention of surveillance Den Den Mushi. The small snail like device that was mounted on the corner of the wall watching the door from across the street. As the banging carried on the door would suddenly open with a swing and a man would appear, short and well dressed with a justice coat on his back. “Hey buddy, you remember me don’t cha?” Navi asked as he quickly punched the man in the face and used the same hand to pull the captain out of the base and into the full view of the security camera.
“Victor the bear!” The marine spluttered out as he was thrown to the floor in one easy swing from his attacker. “I-I thought you were dead! We all did… that’s why I got my promotion…” The captain trailed off, he knew he did not deserve his position he was just in the right place at the right time. He could not even resist Navi even if he wanted too; he knew this was not going to end well for him. “Look… About the bar and blood beard… they just paid too well!” He explained before getting punched again, that smile Navi was wearing had disappeared.
“Don’t worry Coco got her revenge, now I’m getting mine.” He said before simply making his free hand into a claw and simply swiping down the captain’s torso. Navi would quickly step to the side to avoid the spray of blood that flowed forwards and into the air, making a localised rainstorm of crimson red. The goateed man would watch his target lie there, bleeding out with five long scratches running down deep into his torso. That pleasure would not last for long though as the former pirate would dip his hand into the blood and start to smear it on the wall, writing a word. That single word? “CORRUPTED!” Once that was done the now dead marine was dragged to the nearest flagpole and was strung up like the marine flag he loved to serve so much.
Not wanting to stay around the man quickly ran off into the alleyways and into the darkening night, he was lucky that only the captain came out, he was lucky that no one else witnessed that, and he was lucky that the other marines were actually pre occupied cleaning up the Bloodbeard mess on the other side of town. The only other marine that was close was probably on his way back from delivering the money to Coco… He had to go and make sure she was okay, she reminded him so much of the girl before his pirate days died, maybe she was the reason he made such a triumphant return with this blatant message to the world government.
The journey back was easy, no one was there to stop him and when he was by the Lagoona, all he had to do was slip back into the makeshift hospital where he could rest up. The rest of the night would be uneventful, the doctors worked on other patients and Coco was passed out with Cherry sleeping by her side. All Navi could really do was sit in the back room and wait for her to wake up again.
