Queen B. Melosa spend the rest of her day in her room.
After she had failed - or rather apparently cheated in - her first lesson yesterday, Nao had send her back here to "think about what she had done". Of course this would be reported to his father, mayor Shizang Koga-Ryu, as a resting period after her first lesson. She had spent the rest of the day in her bed, staring at the Den Den Mushi in front of her, thinking.
What a stressful time these two last days had been...for her taste the thunderstorm and subsequent stranding on the beach of Aityaia Island would have already been enough. Being lost on an island somewhere without a sign of her crew mate or her ship was not an experience she'd like to repeat. Being assaulted by 14 year old Shinobi boy in a wild jungle was even worse, but just a little confusing, nothing she couldn't handle by now.
Even becoming said boy's captive and and being taken by him to his Shinobi village, the legendary Rokkakku, was something that was only seriously dangerous. If the people here had been hostile, she could have been in serious trouble.
Yet, the opposite had been the case - seemingly. She still couldn't figure out who in the world would make a contract with the old Shinobi mayor to protect her. Years ago! Just on the off chance that Melosa and her crew would ever set foot on Aityaia. Abejorro. She never had heard a name that was even close to that in her life and knew nobody that could have ties to a village full of assassin's which didn't even exist in most people's minds.
And the next thing that had happened was one that had thrown her off completely. They seriously went so far as to drug her to sleep and force her to train with them until they were sure she could look out for herself. Even though she had been angry at first, she couldn't blame them. All they had done was to protect their village from being exposed to the outside world. But she could blame Abejorro. And she would find out who that person was and track her down. After all, the Shinobi would provide the means to do so.
At least her crew was safe and, according to the Shinobi she had talked with on the Den Den Mushi, growing. Louisa McLeod was one name he had said. Surely, she would be a nice person.
These thoughts circled through her head over and over again while she sat on her mattress in Bendan's and her room. The snail was the only living being she saw for the day, until the sun started to go down outside. That was when Bendan entered, carrying a dinner tray that just smelled too delicious.
"Here you go." Like this morning he was already wearing mud-green pajamas, fitting to his equally green hammock in the corner. He placed the food in front of Melosa's bed, then strolled over to his hammock and sat down, staring at her. As always, the boy's voice and face were completely void of emotions.
Originally Melosa had decided to refuse any more food since the last one she got put her to sleep for half a day. But her stomach really did rumble and the steak on the plate looked, smelled and probably tasted too good to refuse.
"Thank you.", mumbled the pirate princess before sliding across the bed so she sat directly in front of the food. With haste, she grabbed the knife and fork and started to gobble until nothing was left. Which took about half a minute.
Bendan seemed puzzled by her sudden actions. At least as far as she could see through the thick green hair in front of his eyes.
Melosa smiled at him. The best way to survive the coming weeks would be to make a few friends. And if Bendan's older brother couldn't be nice, at least she could try talking to the younger one. Those were the two faces she would see the most after all.
"Sorry about earlier. I didn't even win the game."
"It's okay." the young Shinobi scratched his head, revealing the bandages under his sleeve where Melosa's bees had stung him during the lesson "Nobody told you you couldn't do that..."
The pink-haired pirate titled her head to the right, worried about that response.
"You don't always need someone to tell you what and what not to do, you know. As long as I don't do something bad, I can do what I want! If you mess up you deal with the consequences, that happens." She did a casual hand movement to the side as if she was shooing an imaginary consequence.
Bendan looked at her for a second, apparently confused about what Melosa had just said. Then he turned his hand and looked outside, frowning.
"Sure, you can... You don't have rules."
Melosa laughed, a high, clear laugh.
"I just have rules that make sense. Like, don't kill people. Or like, always try to have fun."
The bland faced boy scoffed.
"Fun..." he mumbled "You can't concentrate if you have fun..."
The pirate princess raised her index finger to underline her point further.
"Sure you can! You can concentrate on doing something fun! Like pranking your oh so genius brother!"
For a smidge second the hint of a grin appeared on Bendan Koga-Ryu's face. But it was gone as fast as it appeared.
"That just gets you in trouble." he sighed "You should sleep."
Without even looking at her one more time, he rolled over and turned his back to the girl.
Melosa shrugged, then pushed herself back where she had sat before Bendan had come in and lied down as well.
Hey, she thought to herself he smiled at least.
As she pulled the blanket over her shoulders, tiredness overcame her. Was it this late already? Or did the Shinobi put something in her food again?
Before she could think this thought through, her eyes shut and everything went black.
