The swordsman sighed as he walked along the alleyways of the market, his strike team right next to him. Being in a island comprised mostly of their enemy, Suriko had opted for their team to wear normal clothing. The swordsman himself stuck with the garments he had been traveling in before he had met the captain. Thankfully, the way the buildings were grouped together allowed them to move unnoticed. Amber eyes scanned the main street, seeing very few people passing by. With a gesture, his teams started planting the explosives discreetly. The newly-promoted ensign wasn't entirely sure how he felt about this plan, it seemed far too underhanded. Given his own sense of moral justice, Suriko felt that this method was a bit too heavy handed. But given how indebted he was to Flynn now, turning away now was not option. Once the charge was set, the group gave the signal to move to the next position. As the team moved through the shadows, the samurai thought back to the events that had happened since the incident in the lab. It had been rather quick after the recovery and repair that he and Flynn had gone through. It had been a bit of blur with the pace at which they had prepared for this next mission. According to the captain's report, the mad scientist had been aided by some outside group. Other than their existence, not much information could be gathered about them. With that in mind, the Vice Admiral had sent them off to the Pirate's Market
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Not long after the G-6 incident~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Alright Soldiers. As it stands, Chimera is still a newly formed marine unit. You all have been informed of your roles and responsibilities. And you have been outfitted with all the gear that you will need for this assignment." Standing at attention, Suriko kept his gaze on the vice admiral, trying not to focus on the rather flamboyant looking mustache of his. His gaze dropped to his arm as Wermengard continued with speech, his limbs repaired after the beating they had taken from that beast. "As Captain Toctic may have already explained to you, you are not expected to simply follow orders. This is meant to be competent unit, with intelligent soldiers being its driving force. I expect you lot to make a serious impression out there." A slight cough had been made to inform the man to speed it up a bit. "So as your first mission. You will be sent to the Pirate's Market, situated in the South Blue. This island has long been a thorn in our side, due to its natural means of defense against typical assaults." Motioning for someone to turn on the visual denden mushi, a large image of the G-6 docks was being broadcast. Currently sitting in the dock was a large, rather odd looking vessel. It didn't have any sails, plus a good portion of it appeared to be submerged in the water.
the marine samurai found the vessel interesting, wondering what exactly the advantage it'd have over the typical marine warships. He'd soon get his answer as the boisterous vice admiral spoke up once more. "This is one of the shining gems of our science division, the Avernus. I won't bore you with all the detailed, science-y crap, but this ship is designed to travel through the ocean, rather than across it. As such, We can avoid detection from island defenses until it is too late." Wermengard was sporting a rather large grin at the end of his explanation, obviously pleased with what he had been given for his new unit. Suriko was impressed by the concept of traveling underneath ocean surface, having never heard of such a thing before. The ensign grinned as this choice was proving to be more and more adventurous than he had thought possible. He looked over to the vice admiral once more as he made way for Flynn to speak.
~~~~~~~~~~~A few days later~~~~~~~~~~
Having been given their assignment a few days ago, the Chimera corps still had a few more days to prepare the Avernus before they would embark on the unit's first official mission. The cyborg samurai took advantage of this downtime, finding himself at the quartermaster's forge. Page after page, Suriko had studied the notes his father left in his journal. The detail the swordsmith had used was amazing, allowing Suriko to apply what he learned to his new project. Having used his new position and a bit of the money he had managed to collect, the young man was able to obtain a good chunk of seastone. The stone seemed to have a sort of odd hue, and it just seemed off from regular stone. Having inquired with flynn about the materiel, the cyborg captain had given him plenty of information. Supposedly this stuff was useful against those fruit users his master had told him about. Flynn had also commented on the sword durability as well. Whether or not it could be forged though was a different question. The next hours proved difficult, but the swordsman's effort produced fantastic results. After he slid the tsuka onto the blade, he took one more chance to admire it. For his first successful attempt, it looked amazing. Unsure of how it would fare in combat, he planned to test it with this mission. Looking through the quartermaster's storage, the marine managed to find a proper scabbard for the blade as well. It need a proper name now as well. And then the idea came to the man. Umi no Ibuki.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Present Day~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The swordsman smirked as his hand fell down to his hips, drifting down to his hip. There now sat two katanas, the ome his father had left him and then his own newly made katana. This would be it's field test so to speak. Reaching for the baby den den mushi, it's cold gaze and horns sticking out from its eyestalks gave an adequate idea on who the recipient was for the message. "This is Ensign Miyami. Charges are in position." Once again, the ensign had to remind himself that this was an island of criminals.
