The pain rushed trough Hollis' body as he felt his skin burning, yet he was used to been burn and what started to build inside him was not fear but anger.
"Tick! Tick! Tick! Do you hear them little fishy?! Tick! Tick! Tick Soon they are going Boom!"
Sam started to dance as he continued to put more boxes around the place. Hollis started to walk towards him, his face contorting in anger as he tried to calm down, if he lost control he knew there was not going to be anything able to stop him from tearing down the place.
"Please, don't do this! Don't.... make me angry... Just... Leave!"
The oldest brother had managed to tie the mermaid's hands with a rope hastily as he rushed back to where his little brother was facing the huge fishman, he touched his bleeding ear and grinned in pain when he felt the blood gushing down his neck.
"Bloody women... You were supposed to stay still. Doesn't matter, the show still goes on"
The sound of a second explosion echoed in the warehouse as Hollis saw one of the anchors of a pulley blow up, the rope snapped and part of the ship fell only sustained by the remaining anchors attached to the walls. He rushed towards the hanging rope and pulled it back, his muscles tense as he raised the ship back to it's place.
Then a third explosion next to him deafened him, a bit of wood shrapnel found it's way against his shoulder and he roared in pain. He gave a quick dash and grabbed the second rope before it snapped, his feet firmly planted on the floor yet he started to slip. The ship slowly lowering and he knew if he lost another pulley the whole ship would fall crashing to the ground.
Hollis managed to stop himself from slipping as his back hit a pillar, with his left hand he was hanging to one of the ropes and to the other with his right hand, his giant body flexing as he tried to bring both ends together so he could tie them, that way he could get more time.
"My, my, my, what do we have here little brother?"
Both men stood in front of him as he slowly brought both ends together.
"He seems to have a plan, doncha think Sam?"
"Yes! Yes! A plan... a good plan indeed JJ"
"And we can't have dat, righto?
"No, no, we can't older bro"
The older Wreck brother took out a big construction hammer and raised it over his shoulder, then with a huge grin grabbed it with both hands and taking a full swing slammed it against Hollis stomach. The pain rushed trough the fishman's muscles as his lungs left out the air they had stored, his arms felt limb and the ropes hasted outward pulling his arms, the pain made him groan yet he didn’t let go of the ropes.
"Amazing, any normal person would have fainted from that"
Both brothers chuckled as they saw Hollis panting from exhaustion, he could feel his limbs tremble as his blood begged for oxygen. His body was covered in sweat and the injury on his shoulder started make it numb.
"Do it again! Hit him again JJ!"
"As you wish!"
Johnny swung again with the hammer hitting Hollis on the chest, the wooden pillar behind him trembled with the strength of the blow. Hollis fought against the pain coming from both his stretched arms as well as the blow, he noticed his sight becoming blurry and the hatred boiling up inside him, for a second he thought of how easy could be of just letting go of the ropes and smash the two men in front of him, he just needed to let go...
"No!"
The roar that came from his throat startled the two brothers, the fishman clenched his sharp teeth as he groaned, a line of blood and saliva ran down his mouth, his legs shaking from the effort of remaining on his feet.
"I will not let go, They are counting on me to build this ship! A ship that will let them sail across any sea! For the sake of them I will not let go no matter how much pain I have to endure"
Johnny raised an eyebrow as he saw Hollis pant for air, it was evident that the fishman was not in good shape yet his determination was incredible. Something Johnny had never understood, for him that kind of determination was silly and as a proof the fishman was going to lose his life trying to save a half assed ship, yet he was amused and from his lips escaped a word he didn't wanted to say out loud.
"Why...?"
Hollis smiled back at him, at last he understood. Maybe he was just been foolish, maybe he just took his teacher's words too seriously but he wanted to believe. He wanted to believe that he could go on adventures, that he could enjoy and suffer alongside those people.
"Because they are my friends..."
A grin of anger and repugnance crossed Johnny's face, he had never had friends, he couldn't trust anyone. He spit on the ground next to Hollis before turning around walking towards the exit.
"Come'n little bro, let's get the hell outta here before stupidity sticks into us too"
