There was a saying, fairly common in the research department, that hindsight was 20/20. It was something of a layman's term, but it was an apt one. Flynn had come to Amino looking for a single, supposedly relatively weak pirate. Now, a day and a half after arriving, he had walked around this damn city for hours, destroyed the inside of a crappy bar, spent a very painful night on the ship sewing up his own injuries, and getting involved in multiple fights. Still, it had been interesting enough. The fact that the Commander had left the gathering of Marines who had been assisting in the removal and incarceration of Damoc had been worrying, but it seemed to be an issue that would have to wait.
When the Commander had returned, Den Den Mushi in hand, he had announced that there was to be 4 hours of leave before they set sail. The ship would be taking a detour to a different base before returning to it's home berth, apparently. About 3 hours had passed, and Flynn, after a debriefing from the commander about why exactly there were now two passed out bounties in his hold, had been sent away, to wait out the remaining time until they departed. Mari, who had been waiting for him, had tagged along as he made a quick blitz of the area's shops, snagging any useful bits that cropped up. Most of what he needed would likely have to be taken from the CAZADOR labs, but there were some interesting things. An oddly light breastplate, a bit too small to be worn, for example.
The recent bout of brawling and chaos had given him cause to look closer at some of his old ideas. He was even considering adapting some of Wermengard's stuff. The head of the CAZADOR project, Captain Wermengard, had been the one allowing him more or less free reign thus far. He thought, and the longarm agreed with this, that random and unexpected situations were far better for testing then mere rote lab-work. He had come under fire for it initially, but considering that the scientist had built most of his own upgrades from scratch, and the rapid adjustment to his new tech, there wasn't much weight behind it. It helped that, compared to some of the things Wermengard had done, this was a trifle. The doctor smiled, slightly, as he hefted his bag, heading back toward the ship. Not much time left before the Leave was up, and he had to get stuff stowed.
Actually, there was another thing to do before he left, now that he was doing a mental inventory. Turning to his partner in beating-up-sad-tools, the cyborg raised an eyebrow. "I meant to ask, actually. What are your plans here? Damoc's being taken away, you got Mahogani back. I'm headed back to base, well, A Base, anyway. Not sure where the Commander was asked to stop. If my past missions are anything to go by, I'm getting dropped off for something else moronic." Tapping his fingers against the wall, he sighed, but it was half-hearted annoyance at best. It was mid-afternoon, and most of the city was occupied in the inner districts. The wharf and market were sparsely occupied, and the simple buildings and stalls were manned by sleepy workers, dull from nights of partying.
Leaning against the bricks, Flynn groaned slightly, massaging his shoulder. He was still sore from the previous day, and the recent exertion had not helped his aching body. Bandages covered his frame under the ripped and torn coat he wore, and his eyes had been progressively drooping for the past hour or so. God, as soon as he was on that ship, he was sleeping. As soon as he finished the adjustments, that was. He also had to check on the rank-and-file, which was slightly annoying, given that none of them had really done anything. Unless someone was actively losing blood, they could wait until after he had grabbed some shut-eye.
