"... A compliment?" Kelsi let Myone's statement hang in the air for a moment. The girl was oblivious to the sounds of her fellow shipwrights, staring the swordsman in front of her square-on; her words were left hanging as well as she took another long drag on her cigarette and puffed a great big cloud of smoke into the air in front of her. "Well, ya ****in' bastard, listen to yourself. A pirate with no crew, who only 'takes the best'... And you wonder why you have no crew! I'll ****ing tell you why you don't; because you probably have gone around asking people to join who are already perfectly content with their lot in life!"
The Longarm shipwright huffed, standing up and pushing Renee, who attempted to intercept the fuming girl, down into another bean bag. Emmet tracked Kelsi's movement quietly, almost hawk-like, as she slung her backpack over her shoulder, muttering curses under her breath, before making her way through a previously closed door. The huge door slammed shut nearly as quickly as it had been opened, leaving Myone and the other shipwrights to stand in the silence of the house for a minute.
Renee sat back in the bean bag she had been forced to occupy, staring at Myone, while Cid finally convinced Emmet to play pool with him. Ares didn't say a single word in the kitchen, instead opting to hum a tune that would be strangely familiar to almost everyone who hadn't lived their entire life under a rock (and some of those people would probably recognize the tune as well). The older female shipwright cracked her knuckles suddenly, leaning forward to face Myone, frowning and leaning on her knees. "Hey, kid. Thanks a bunch of saving l'il sis, but I recommend backing off if you don't want to have to have us save you from her."
Renee laughed suddenly, standing up and patting Myone on the back. "Ah, it'll blow over soon, I'm sure. Anyway, I'm sure you're acquainted with Kelsi by now... Let's get you introduced to the rest of the gang before dinner's ready, a'ight?"
Kelsi was, currently, venting her frustrations into a pillow. Said pillow would most likely be very well fluffed for generations, if the number of times a pillow was hit at all correlated to how long it would stay "fluffed", but, since that would be ridiculous, the pillow was really just making for a really great punching bag. The Longarm was careful not to make too much noise, and was thankful for the level of noise that Renee and Cid were already making since her departure, as it did wonders to cover up the sound of her fists hitting the fluffy headrest. Goddamn that Myone character. Why would he even think for a minute that he could just, just, waltz right on in, save her from a beat-down without a single word, proclaim himself a pirate, and then invite her to join his crew?! She had insulted him and his intelligence, had she not? She had clearly reacted so negatively to his claim of being a pirate, and then her reaction to being invited a spot? He had simply tried to pass it off as a compliment!
"**** him. **** him, **** him, **** that bastard. If he wasn't the old man's guest, I'd show him exactly how the Bulwark Shipyards usually handle pirates, but nooooooooo..."
"Hey, Kelsi! Get your ass out here; dinner's ready!" Ares roared, coming out from the kitchen, a towel draped across his shoulder and plenty of barbecue sauce covering his face and hands. "Myone, the drill is basically to just grab whatever you think you can eat, put it on a plate, and then find a good place to eat. Good luck, ahahaha!"
In a flash of color, Emmet, Renee, and Cid were all dashing to the kitchen, with the two humans pushing and shoving each other to get there first (but ultimately being passed by Emmet anyway). Ares stood for another minute, glaring at the door Kelsi had gone through some time ago now, before turning back to the kitchen himself.
The youngest shipwright in the building cracked the door open, goggles down over her eyes, only to see Myone again and shut it, slamming the door as loudly as she could. She slumped against the door, exhaling a great big puff of smoke once again. To go out and face the raging idiocy that was that dumbass swordsman or to sit in here all night and go hungry. Decisions, decisions...
When her stomach began to rumble, however, the decision was made, and Kelsi strode out of the bedroom, ignoring Myone as she made her way to the kitchen.
