Pirate Market, a place where pirates pay top dollar if you have what they want. It is sometimes called the rogue market but with the times do filled with jolly rogers it was rarely used these days. It was a miracle that the marines haven't put a stop to this place but as Lurren walked among the cutthroats, vigilantes, and pirates found abundant here, she couldn't help but notice the entrenchments that had been built around this island.
A thin mist hung upon the air and the clouds above seemed to threaten a rain. It was a pretty dreary weather that seemed to hold the island though the inhabitants didn't seem to care. In fact, most of through people she saw were animated, excited, and dangerous. Lurren wondered briefly if that was common.
A massive stone wall has been built around the island, cannons spaced every few yards along the battlements that ran above the common pirates that visit. Lurren noticed that most of the cannons were long ranged 48 pounders with their long barrels and heavyset turntables. They would certainly pack a punch if they all fired in tandem but individually they weren't as strong as some other cannons. Their range was their advantage.
People weren't paying attention to the guns though, they had their sites on various shops that had setup here on the northern side of the island. It was a regular bazaar as anyone can just pick a spot and start selling. The most profitable locations tended to be closer to the docks but you had to fight to keep them. Further away you were safer but the pirates didn't respect you as much and payed less. This was the kind of place Lurren could make some money. Or at least she thought so.
She was in for a rude awakening when she first arrived on this island. Sure, it was her destination but she wasn't prepared for her entire armory to be stolen the first night! Someone was going to pay and she has been tracking her weapons ever since she found out about them. She's already made a name for herself on the island. People just seem to refer to her as "Oh shit it's her run!" Something about randomly throwing grenades and firing into a crowd seems to have put the population on edge.
A description of her seemed to spread like wildfire around the docks. She supposed it was fairly easy to spot her. She was one of the few women to be see around here. Pirating seemed to be dominated by the male persona and a cute thing like Lurren was rare. For a female she was even more exotic, not due to her short black hair, or amber eyes but rather her tendency to wear dresses covered in grenades, ammo and weapons. Two pistol hung at her side, a shotgun hung behind her and a rifle was attached to her back. Add a strap of grenade hung sideways across her chest and most knew she was trouble...despite her dimpled smile.
A reputation was a good thing to have though as it made it easier to intimidate some of the locals. She was currently following a lead here on this side of the island. A local was persuaded it was good for their health to give her information instead of her giving him a grenade. Now she just needed to find some sign of her missing arsenal.
Investigating wasn't really her thing but she could give it a whorl and hope for the best. Who knows, maybe she'll find a good deal or two on explosives while she is here. The worst case is that she continues looking but she fears that every day spent looking is another day more of her collection is being sold with her getting nothing in return. It is odd that she hasn't spotted anyone with one of her weapons though. She figured she would have seen at least one pirate wilding an Elgard exclusive.
