"We're not ready to face this thing just yet. We cannot take it head on in our current condition. Yumeko is almost unconscious, you are definitely weakened and I am dazed almost out of my sights. We have to somehow distract the beast and flee as soon as possible. At least delay it a little. And then.."
He leaned in closer.
"We take it head on. Just not today. We need time to prepare."
Tayzo nodded, knowing that his captain was right. They had counted enough blessings already for one day, and he was almost sure one more against this beast wasn't going to happen.
Regaining the feeling in his lower body, Tayzo forced himself to his feet, as Hector held the boat in place with a look of determination in his eyes that made Tayzo linger. The blue-haired teen studied him as the feeling in his arms and the rest of his upper body began to return, enough for him to jump at least. Why would the old dude go through so much for us? He thought, recalling all the deeds Hector had done for them. He has to be using us for something...
GROOOOOOOOOOOOOORGHHHHHHHHHH!!! The roar of the Sea King split the air again. The beast had risen above the water, and was now staring down at everyone on the shore, probably looking for green-hair.
Shit, no time to think about it now. Besides, Tayzo had barely known Masaru for more than a few days as well, but he risked his life for him in the same way. Not to mention Tayzo had Hector's life from those no-good pirates. Maybe this was his way of repaying them, or better yet, a way to pay his respects to all of his late pirate friends by helping those that keep his ideals of a true pirate alive.
Masaru waved his hand frantically, "Oh jump already!"
Tayzo took a few paces back, and then sprinted down what remained of the dock, and jumped onto the ship, landing with a roll. Masaru had given Yumeko orders to man the wheel, so Tayzo decided to defend. After all, there was a Sea King, and a band of pirates, who had just regained themselves on the shore. But it looked as if the hyena wasn't going to be needed, as the pirates charged down what remained of the dock like fools, all at once. It gave way and they all fell straight into the water and on top of each other.
"Ahoy lad!" Hector called from the shore, where he had retreated after Tayzo boarded the ship. In his hand, he was holding Tayzo's prized possessions, his priceless obsidian-bladed tonfa that Shimo had given to him as a gift when he departed from Karate Island. Tayzo had left them on the shore in all the panic. "These should pay for the medical treatment you received from me!" Hector called, with an evil smirk on his face.
"What the hell, you said we were even! Give those back!" Tayzo called back, beginning to realize why Hector had helped them. He just wanted to get his hands on Tayzo's treasures. That lousy, old, thieving, double-crossi- Tayzo's thoughts were interrupted by a familiar laugh.
"HAWHAWHAW, just kidding young lad. You should've seen your face!" Hector cracked, and then threw both of the weapons toward the ship. Tayzo caught and sheathed them on his sides, and looked back up.
"I don't understand how you could joke at a time like this" The blue-haired teen managed a smile. Hector was a true nakama, and Tayzo would always remember the deeds he had done for him and his friends on this crazy night. "Good-bye old dude!" Tayzo called.
"Onward young lads! On to the Grand Line! I will be keeping an eye out for you guys! Raise hell on these vast seas!" Hector called, and then turned away to helping the citizens that had just fought with the pirates.
Their boat was beginning to drift along, as Yumeko was managing to steer the ship, but then things took another turn for the worst as the Sea King made a gruff noise, realizing his target was no longer on the shores. Its head turned toward their ship, and Tayzo's heart immediately sank. "Uh oh..." The teen said, as the Sea King made a beeline to their ship, making it seem like a short trip, because in a matter of seconds, he was hovering over them, eyes locked onto the green-haired brat.
