Whenever Bessie came to help someone or another, she always learned to expect certain responses. Most of the time it was for simple things she did but whenever she spoke her mind, she found herself being slapped or was told some nasty things before they ran off. It was something she came to acknowledge as every day life, a very lonely one but a life all the same. The only place where she could speak her thoughts openly seemed to be the bar since everyone was too drunk to care or just didn't care enough to care. The only person who was neither affected by her seemed to be her father who laughed off each one and, honestly, added fire to it with his own blatant comments. He was the only one to ever hug her in all her years of life.
Now, she could honestly say that wasn't the case anymore as the girl she had just saved, the one who was even staring daggers at her for jumping on Imuka, was standing here hugging Bessie with all her might. Her clothes and skin felt damp but with all the ocean spray erupting around them, anyone who wasn't was obviously being a lazyass and wasn't even helping! Cue eye turn towards the door where Torins sister disappeared. Most of all, though, that she recognized from the hug was that it was soft and oddly warm, something that clearly could not be experienced with a man whose sole purpose was to muscle up!
Of course, Robin seemed to be on the awkward train today because only a few seconds into the hug, it seemed like she began to sob then she said...thank you?! Bessie stiffened up in response, feeling her face heat up as her face flushed. This crew was certainly enjoying shocking her at every turn and they weren't on an actual journey yet! This was only the starting line!!!! Finally, she decided to step back, straightening up from...that all the while Bessie stared at her like she was a bat out of hell with those big eyes of hers.
"Are you ok?" She asked hesitantly, obviously not talking about Robins recent encounter with death. However it seemed that this starting line wasn't ready to be calm for two freaking seconds and since Bessie was too caught up in her own thoughts, she never heard Torins voice over the waves and wind. So of course, her stomach lurched in fright as she instantly felt her feet leave the comfort of the ship. In a few seconds, she was going to head exactly for the place Robin was going to meet. Was this equal exchange?! She knew she just saved Robin but she wasn't ready to die for her!!! With that she latched her blue eyes shut, not ready to watch her life fly before her eyes and much less ready to watch herself plummet to her death! However, it seemed that Robin was a bit more prepared and instantly a hand shout out to her keeping her from flying over the edge!
Using Robin's arm, she found solid footing beneath her feet again, but the scene around her didn't do much to calm her ever lurching stomach. The ship was literally flying, through the sky. And whatever comes up...must come down.
It seemed that Torin had the same idea and began to bark orders as fast as possible for them to make the 15 second window he seemed to predict. That 15 second window that easily became 10 by the time he finished barking all of his orders. Now, it was time for each of them to do their job. She was happy Robin was with her because her knowledge on ships weren't exactly the best. Stories never did compare to the real thing. On shaky legs, she made her own move towards the mast, mimicing Robins moves until she decided to go help out thei-...her captain. Still, despite watching Robins movements, Bessies fingers were still fumbling around with the rope, trying to figure out what to do. Stress only seemed to add to the pressure making Bessie even more unsure than she initially was. Finally, her companion came back down and she hurried to copy what she was doing. When it came to lifting the sails...well she was just gonna have to hope that luck was on her side.
