◊- Name of Island: G-6 - Lanza Island Chain
◊- Society: G-6 Marines, CHIMERA
◊- Size of Island:A small group of mountains, they are all fairly close together and thus the bottoms of them come together some 50 feet below the sea level. The chain is formed by a set of five large mountains with a few smaller mountains all in what could be 3/4th’s of a circle which forms a harbor in which boats can be docked for safety from the more raucous waters outside. Since most of the mountains built up from the sea floor some of the peaks are not too high up. The tallest of the five large mountains touches the clouds but that is the only one.
◊- Location: Peace Route, Grand Line
◊- Log Pose Time: 1 Week
◊- Climatic Type: Fall Island
◊- Climate:If anything is to be said about the G-6 Lanza Island Chain, it is that it is windy. It blows through the mountain peaks polishing the rocky crags as it goes. It is a desolate place that does not provide much in the way of life. The only thing that can live upon its steep mountain sides are the more hardy of plants and some birds that nest in the cliffs and crags of the mountain tops.
◊- Island Appearance:Upon approach of the island there is not much to see. From any angle one would see a set of mountains looming up above the waters. Depending on the weather, they would look grey and desolate without much respite for those coming towards it. To those extremely keen of eye they might notice watch towers and ramparts connecting the lower peaks and some of the mountain sides.
◊- Flora and Fauna:The Flora is very limited on the base. What does exist are hardy plants which lay low to the ground and furnish the rough earth of the mountain sides. They add a little green to the otherwise grey mountains. The plants are mainly limited to the inner sides of the mountains as the other sides take a much greater beating from the elements.
Fauna-wise there are many birds that make their homes in the peaks of the islands. Ranging in size from a baseball to a rhino these birds they all nest within the crags and cliffs. The rhino-sized ones are much rarer as they are often out at sea flying across the Grand Line. Other than the birds above are the fish that make their homes in the harbor. They range to small sardine sized fish to the giants that easily are larger than marine battleships. The larger ones lie at the base of the mountain and come up very rarely in large storms and such.
◊- Inhabitants:The only inhabitants of this island are the marines. As a major marine base in Paradise it houses thousands of marines within the mountains. They are well … Marines there is not much to say about them in the end. The island is inhabited by anywhere from 15-20 Thousand Marines at any given time.
◊- Prominent Organizations, Groups and Establishments:G-6 Command: In charge of the day-to-day running and command of the majority of marines upon the island, G-6 Command is headed by Rear Admiral Edward Load. G-6 Command is set within the peak of the highest of the five mountains. From his office, there is a balcony which looks down upon the harbor of the whole base. His second in command is Commodore Allen Nethogs and beneath them are a whole array of low ranked officers that ensure that the base is running and ready to respond to any arising problems. G-6 Command is a proud group who fancy themselves better than the other sectors of G-6. (13,200-18,200 Marines)
Marine Science Division: A smaller power on the island, it governs one of the three main sectors of the island. Their HQ on the island is set in the peak of the second largest mountain along with most of the divisions run by them who specialize more in research. The largest group is Project CAZADOR and it's test group, the 22nd Division, "C.H.I.M.E.R.A." which is only somewhat within their jurisdiction as it has its own leader and is set in a different mountain peak. It is led by Science Officer Jerald Morde. (2800 Marines)
Project CAZADOR: A specialized robotic sciences group with it's own test division, 22nd Division CHIMERA which is led by Captain Flynn Toctic. It's labs are built into the peak of the fourth highest peak of the five mountains. The Division is formed mainly of cyborgs who are part of the CAZADOR project headed by Vice Admiral Wermenguard. While never confirmed, it has been hypothesized by many in CAZADOR that a Vice Admiral was placed in charge of this project due to his ongoing status as "Loose Cannon." See here for more information. (Counted under Marine Science Division)
Project BIOS: A now defunct project which was shut down 9 years ago after a series of disasters left most of the research staff and experiments missing. It is suspected that the project went rogue, and anybody with information on it is expected to contact the Science Division immediately.
◊- Trends:Fashion
The current fashion here is Marine uniforms. No really, since that is generally what the whole populace wears there is nothing particularly interesting about it. Apart from that it is common amongst the shipwrights of the drydocks to wear overalls while working. That is probably the only ‘fashion trend’ that really exists in the base.
Politics
Politics on the island are very simple in the end. It is a military system so there is a basic top to bottom command hierarchy when it comes to running the base. That being said there are a few touchy subjects on the island.
Specifically Rear Admiral Lode has a slight inferiority complex because of Vice Admiral Wermenguard being placed on the island. That along with some of the crazy antics of the CHIMERA Corps has created a divide between that group and G-6 Command in particular. Though no direct actions are taken, this tension can strain relations on the base.
Rear Admiral Lode also does not like the Marine Science Division as they kind of break down his control of the island. While in the sense of running the island they are under his control, apart from decisions that connect to base safety, law enforcement, and the movement of materials off the island he has no say in what they do.
Sectors / Industry
There are three major sectors on base at G-6. They are (in order of number of marines involved) drydocks, weapons manufacturing, r&d. Drydocks and Weapons Manufacturing are run by G-6 Command but R&D is run by the Marine Science Division.
The largest of the industries is the building and design of ships specifically for marine use. Its headquarters is located in the smallest of the five mountains and also includes the large drydock set under the mountains. While normally it builds the marine battleships this industry is also set in creating new ship designs to help the marines exert their control over the seas.
The second largest industry is weapons manufacturing. Without a headquarters it takes up another large cavern under the mountain and is located very near to the dry dock. Generally it builds the cannons and weaponry used by the marines daily for the defense and protection of the World Government Islands.
The final sector is R&D (research & design), the most famous group amongst this sector is of course CAZADOR who creates cyborgs. While this sector does not specialize in anything in particular its smaller groups do. This sector is also led by a member of the Marine Science Division rather than someone from G-6 Command.
Cuisine
There is little interesting cuisine to note on base. The chefs that help to feed the staff are so overworked because of the massive size of the base that they cannot make anything special. Though meals are commonly seafood based as that is the most abundant material for them to cook with.
◊- NPCS:-Vice Admiral Wermengard-
A boisterous, loud, and overly macho man with a proud mustache, the Vice Admiral serves as the overseer for many of the Science Division's projects, and a liaison of sorts to Marine HQ. Most of the projects are directly military oriented, and as such a ranking officer was sent to take care of any rank issues when it came to the military aspects.
The Vice Admiral does not have a large amount of political sway in Marine HQ, and was sent predominantly to get him out of the way. All things considered, while he is strong, he is fairly low on the food chain as Vice Admirals are concerned. His deeds have technically earned him his position, however, and this has caused tension with the frequently stressed and overshadowed base commander, which the mustachioed liaison is entirely oblivious to.
-Rear Admiral Edward Lode-
The commanding officer of G-6, Lode is an extremely prideful man. Like most high ranking marines he is of a larger build than most having reinforced it with layer upon layer of muscle. Though rather short given his build he stands taller and feels larger than most. It is something he tries to achieve, as the man has a bit of an inferiority complex. He is rather annoyed with the Science Division and the two men who make up the largest factions within it.
While he makes all the major calls for this base, much of the day-to-day running he allows subordinates to complete for him. He is smart and resourceful with a taste for hard working men. Being stuck as a base commander is not his final goal, he wants to earn glory for himself so he may achieve an even higher rank. He hopes eventually Fleet Admiral.
-Commodore Allen Nethogs-
Second-in-command of the base, Allen Nethogs is a skinny man, he lacks the bulk of many higher ranking marine officers. He does not exude presence as many of the other men do instead he maintains a calm and diligent work ethic. Wearing glasses and with short neatly cut black hair Allen is the one who actually keeps the base running.
He has a mind for organization, efficiency, and along with his diligence manages much of the economic and political workings of the island. It is Allen who keeps tensions down managing both his bosses and his colleagues tempers. While he does not look it he is a competent fighter who has more than earned his rank.
-Science Officer Jerald Morde-
Leading member of G-6's Science Division, Jerald represents the interests of the Science Division upon G-6. He organizes distribution of resources to all of the different projects that are run from G-6. A crafty man he is an excellent manipulator, he has an outwardly friendly personality which allows him to raw people in easily. Jerald has very little presence in his figure, this also brings people in because they let their guard down because he seems rather weak.
◊- Town(s)/Village(s)/City or Cities:-The Peaks-
The Peak HQs: Set in the five large mountains, each peak contains within it a headquarters or lab or the like. They are in order from the tallest peak to the shortest peak: G-6 Command HQ, Marine Science Division HQ, Empty, C.H.I.M.E.R.A. Lab, Drydock HQ. Apart from the lab most of them are pretty similar, they are a lot of offices and desks that manage their respective groups.
The Watch: On the outside, set on the peaks of the smaller mounts and the edges of the large mountains. It is a set of wooden and stone structures built into the rock and upon the rock. They exist both on the inside and the outside of the ring and thus are a set of watch posts that keep an eye out for incoming ships. There is an entrance to the watch posts in the 1st and 3rd mountains. The watch is generally manned by a few hundred marines who patrol between watch posts. The watchmen spend time in watchposts a lot to keep warm from the heavy winds in the outer ring.
-Sea Level-
Main Entrance: Set in the largest mountain, the main entrance connects to the docks. It has a large front gate that is ten men wide. It leads into a main hall that connects to the main elevator which accesses the multiple levels of the mountain. It is a grand entrance made to show the strength of marines. Banners hang from the ceiling with marine symbols upon it.
Goods Entrance: Set in the third largest mountain, the goods entrance is the bulk supply entrance to the island. Their is a large cave dug into the mountain to create an inside dock for offloading goods. Their is a steel gate that bars the gates of this inside-cave. It can be opened and closed by a switch in the dock's control room. It has a large elevator specifically made for moving goods deeper into the mountain.
The Docks: Set along the edge of the mountains, its a set of wooden barges that are held to the mountains with posts to allow marine ships to park outside of it. There are a few marines always stationed at the docks to welcome incoming guests. The docks are not very interesting they are made to be durable not nice.
The Lighthouse: A large tower near the fourth largest mountain. It is a large lighthouse with bright lights to keep an eye out for incoming ships. A large white brick tower it does not sit too high up and is connected to The Watch.
R&D Sector: Under the second mountain, this is a ring with a lot of different labs set within it. Each lab does research on their own thing. The elevator in this building goes up and down, going up to the HQ and down to residential areas.
-Underground Level-
The Ring: A motorized rail that rings around the three sectors connecting to the five elevators that connect to the five largest mountains. It has train cars that bring marines around. There is a inner rail and an outer rail each going its own way around the ring.
Drydock Sector: The drydocks takes up the north-western third of the ring. It fills a decent section of the underground. Apart from the residential section there is no sector larger than this. The drydocks have room for building up to ten ships at a time with access to a large elevator to bring ships up. The drydock is filled with marine shipwrights who not only work on current marine ship design as well as new ship designs.
Industrial Sector: The smallest of the three underground sector, it is formed of a few factories each dedicated to the making of certain weaponry. The largest factory is a cannon-foundry. The others focus on building smaller arms weapons as well as other weaponry and items that are needed for the battleships built in the drydock.
Residential Sector: The largest sector, the residential area fills the southern area of the island. It is a large maze of rooms, kitchens, mess halls, and all sorts of amenities to appease the general marine populace of the base. The blocks of rooms form into squares and are set as just a large set of blocks with other mess areas and amenities stuck in between them.
Sorry Maps and Me do not get along.◊- Island Map:
◊- Missions:Mission - The Cursed Third Peak
There are rumors that the Third Peak rooms are haunted. Marines are avoiding it and no one wants to find out what is happening there. The Science Division is highly uninterested with finding out what it is oddly enough. You have been chosen to go solve the mystery and free it of the haunting.
◊- Island History:-Ages ago natives landed upon the Lanza Island Chain. They set up small wooden homes upon the inner ring of the mountains close to the sea. Living close to the see they formed a sort of oasis upon the island for people to stop by. It formed a small dock and trading post specializing in fish.
-Later on the marines came by, noting the natives were a small community the marines effortlessly moved them to another island to claim the Lanza Island Chain to create a base there. Originally planned to be a prison they dug down to create a stronghold underneath the largest mountain.
-As construction continued they suddenly realized that not too far from the surface the first mountain meets with the other four mountains in the area to form a large underground area. Immediately they began to convert the whole underground area into a large cavern complex.
-As the base expanded the island was changed from a prison into a base. They expanded the sectors to meet new needs of the marines on the Peace Route. The first industry to form of course was the building of ships for the marines. Given the large area underneath the mountain they found they could easily build multiple ships at once.
-Given the trouble of bringing materials, specifically cannons and other materials to the underground drydocks. The marines set up an industrial sector as well as a supply store within the industrial sector. Placed next to the drydock sector the base continued to expand encompassing now all five of the large mountains.
-The marines began to hollow out the other peaks, forming four other areas to fill apart from the main command HQ in the first mountain. It was then when the docks hq was set up in the fifth mountain as they found the drydocks were just below that mountain.
-Later the science division finally took the chance and took control of two of the eastern peaks. Thus beginning a general feud between the Science Division and G-6 Command since neither had any actual control over the other. Of course the feud remained something that was more held by G-6 towards the Science Division.
