Koneko Miu - 1
“Ooo!” On the top of a tropical tree hidden in its bundle of leafs, a girl clung onto the trunk, looking inwards towards the island. At this altitude, her amber-hued eyes could view the vast scope of the forest that formed a ring around the small island. She was wearing a pink tank-top, black shorts, and grey shoes.
“!” She turned her gaze one-eighty, spotting a vessel approaching the shores. There were two figures standing on deck, but that was all she could make out.
“Now then…, what am I going to do about you guys,” she looked down, eyeing on the giant lizards at the bottom of the forest. She had been cautious about them for a while now. Had it been just one of them, she wouldn’t have climbed all to the top of this tree, but since they lived in a large group, she was outnumbered.
These giant lizards didn’t appear to be interested in the human girl above them, but it was difficult to tell from their expressionless, stone-cold faces.
Pluto - 1
Whoosh!
A child’s leg swiftly flew across in an arc. She pivoted on her foot, rotated her body, and swung out a kick at her older brother. The deck rocked and sway along the bumpy seas, yet she was stable and balanced. As much as she loves and cares for him, she didn’t hold back. Such safety measures didn’t apply when the sparring partner would take no damage anyways from her attacks. She was light with a small, slender body; her attacks -no matter how well executed- had the limiting restraint of her physiology.
The brother simply bent his knees and leaned slightly back just enough for the tips of her toes to miss his head by the breadth of a hair.
I need more speed!
Rebecca stepped forth to shorten the range for striking attacks. A diverse set of punches and kicks were unleashed, one leading up to another.
How is he doing this?
Her older brother evaded each of her assaults with minimal movement. But above all else, he had his eyes closed and his hands in his pockets. Even without sight or use of arms, he could sense all her attacks and make the proper response with the slightest of leaning and turning of his body.
Amazing! He doesn’t even have to look at me to dodge.
Bouncing up and down, she flapped her arms in excitement, “Pluto! Pluto! Pluto! How are you doing that?” She grew curious.
“What do you mean? I’ve just been standing here this whole time,” he said lethargically as if ready to fall asleep in his upright position.
Eh!? Now that he mentions it… he hasn’t moved at all from his spot.
She shook her head, shaking that through out of her mind. “No! I mean: how can you dodge when you have your eyes closed? You’ve always told me to keep my eyes on the opponent! But, you’re not even following your own advice!”
“An advice doesn’t have to be applied to everyone. You have to rely on your sight to see, but I don’t. It’s simple as that.”
“Then teach me how to see without my eyes.”
“That’s a waste of time. It’s extremely difficult even years of training. It’s not uncommon to fail even with a lifetime’s worth of training. You’re better off with physical training.”
“Eh? But I thought technique can overcome stronger opponents.”
“Leverage can overcome superior strength but only to an extent. Your greatest weakness right now is physical strength. Your technique is good enough to take down regular adults, but they won’t work against anyone with superhuman abilities.”
“Ah!” Rebecca held a hand over her eyes to provide shade as her violet-hued eyes looked on into the distance across the seas. “I see Dojo Island! It’s been a while!”
“Oi…, did you even listen to what I just said…”
