Mission 14 ★★★☆☆
You’ve been challenged to spend the night in a supposedly haunted building, but strange happenings are afoot. Can you survive the bizarre events and uncover the secret behind the rumors?
The dark sky gave off a dim ominous glow, a gradient of violet shrouding the heavens. The ground that they stand on was barren and dry. Ancient cross-shaped stones protruded from the ground, sticking out at tilted. angles. Withering, lifeless trees stood sparsely in the surroundings, appearing like crooked shadowy figures in the thick layer of mist. Ruins and rubbles laid around with the decaying earth. Metal barred gates encircled the graveyard. A single, ginormous gothic mansion stood at the center of the entire island with several pointed towers pointed skyward. It was the only form of structure that seemed to remain intact, the only form of usable shelter.
Eerily silent, there was not a single sound, rustle, or breath that could be detected in the vicinity. He sauntered onward with an unfazed expression. A shorter girl beside him clung onto his arm, walking with him. She constantly scrutinized her surroundings, looking left and right with her large curious eyes of violet-hue. Everything was so spooky. Intruding this abandoned-looking island felt like a taboo in of itself. Each step felt like it could anger a spirit that resides beneath them. Her heart pounded nervously. Consciously, she didn’t believe in ghosts or superstitious beings alike, yet the child part of her instinctively felt fear of the possibility of the unknown and the unexplained. The only reassurance she had was her older brother who made her feel safe. His presence made her feel at ease. It was difficult to tell what he was feeling by his neutral, composed facial expression. He was either fearless or skilled at hiding his fear. He was the type of person who hides his weaknesses, so even if he was afraid, he would rarely outwardly reveal it.
“AHHH!” Rebecca shrieked as she quickly gazed down at her side. A rotting, old arm burst out of the dirt and grabbed her by the ankle.
“!” Pluto shifted his eyes towards the moving arm, witnessing a body climbing out of the ground.
A low groan sounded from the moving corpse. Its jaw lowered, revealing a set of chipped, yellow teeth. Its eyes appeared sunken in its sockets. Its skin appeared dirty and pale. Hardly any muscle or fat remained; the animated corpse was nothing but skin and bones.
I… couldn’t sense it?
Right as he was about to take a step, he found himself immobilized. Casting a glance downward, he saw a pair of withered hands clenched at his ankles.
The abomination didn’t stop there. Hands began creeping out of the earth all around them as corpses climbed out of their grave, moaning and groaning in a low, monotonous voice.
“Huh…,” Pluto rose an eyebrow, admitting defeat at how clueless he was. No matter how he observed this scene, he could not find a reasonable explanation as to how this was possible.
“Zombies…, is it?” He muttered to himself.
