Personality:
Chanel fancies himself a maiden at heart, and enjoys life with the enthusiasm expected of a youth seeing the world for the first time. He's extremely open with his emotions, and is quick to open up to others. Likewise, he is always happy to allow others to open up to him. Because he no longer has to contain his tears to avoid punishment, he openly weeps, often without much provocation. Sad songs and novels, stories, or even the sight of cute animals can sometimes reduce him to tears.
While he's very energetic and enthusiastic, it doesn't take much more than a few harsh words directed at him to hurt his feelings. However, he appears to be immune to insults targeted at his being an okama, as it's something in which he possesses a great deal of pride. Years of abuse have made Chanel's heart sensitive, they have not made him fragile. In some ways, his "rebirth" as an okama was a path to rebuilding his self-confidence, and though he may cry, it never takes long for him to find his resolve.
Though his relationship with his mother has made him empathetic to the plight of the poor, being raised as a prince still divides him from the commonfolk. As such, he can come off as a bit ditzy and ignorant of less obvious problems, and occasionally forgets the big problems faced by the poor as well (such as not having enough to feed a family).
Chanel places enormous emphasis on the importance of one's heart over one's body, but also believes that being comfortable in one's skin is the key to bringing peace to one's heart.
Normally, Chanel is remarkably patient and slow to anger. However, destroying his clothing beyond repair will immediately send him into a fit of anger. Mother-based insults also achieve a similar effect.
Appearance:
The former crown prince of Cendrillon Kingdom, Charming Chanel has a rather regal appearance, taking after his mother. In terms of appearance, the so-called "Drag Princess" is quite unlike most "okama," as his appearance is not only quite feminine but his use of cosmetics is also relatively understated. That being said, Chanel is still fond of flamboyant outfits and describes himself as having "the heart of a maiden" despite his male body.
His skin is soft and smooth and free of blemishes. His nails are kept freshly manicured and often painted with nail polish. He often accents his features with various cosmetics including lipstick, eyeliner, eyeshadow, and blush. Though his natural hair is straight, shoulder-length and dirty blonde, he has a wide variety of extravagant and glamorous wigs at her disposal. His large, expressive eyes are a gray-purple color.
Chanel's slender physique and tendency to shave any unsightly body hair makes him virtually indistinguishable from biological women, and only those who are particularly perceptive tend to notice the difference. He lacks the usual signs, with a small Adam's apple and a naturally soft voice. The most noticeable masculine traits include his height (around six feet tall) and his lack of breasts and feminine hips, though he tends to wear false breasts to conceal the former.

HISTORY |
Background:
Early Life
Charming Chanel was born the prince of the Cendrillon Kingdom located on Pumpkin Island in the North Blue. His mother, Charming Camille, was married to Prince Charming Charlemagne as part of an arrangement between their families. Though she wasn't happy with the arrangement, the birth of her son brought her some measure of joy, and she was very protective and loving towards him. She would often sing soothing songs to her son, and played with him every day.
Charlemagne saw his son as soft, weak, and effeminate and tended to be harsh on the boy. When he was three, he took him fencing and horseback riding with him, attempting to toughen Chanel up. He also took the boy hunting, but found that the boy lacked the stomach to kill, and wept at the sight of their fallen quarry. His father struck him several times for this, and demanded he never cry, as it would make him look weak.
He took to the fencing and riding lessons, however, under the instruction of his uncle, the king's twin brother Carloman, who was far kinder than his twin and often proved a better father. Carloman treated him well, as he had lost his own wife and son years ago during an attack by the Revolutionary Army on a meeting of nobles. He told Chanel that there were some who saw value only in power and wealth, but that love was a far more valuable treasure.
Because the line of succession was unclear, when Charlemagne poisoned his father, he framed his brother for the murder. Chanel's uncle and mentor was taken unawares, tried unfairly, and executed when the boy was ten years of age. As a king, Charlemagne was a terrible tyrant, taxing his people unfairly and ensuring that only those of noble blood were treated as equals under the law. The punishments for small crimes soon became excessive, and executions became commonplace in Cendrillon.
The Fairy of Cendrillon
Seeing the plight of her people, Camille donned a disguise, and quit the castle whenever possible to offer aid and succor to the peasantry. One day, when he was eleven, Chanel discovered his mother in the act and followed her. He witnessed her stealing from the homes of those who had wronged the poor to give to those in need, and use her sewing skills to create warm clothing for them during the cold winter months.
Though she would not permit him to follow her any longer, Camille taught her son to sew, and he proved talented at working cloth. He playfully wore the outfits he made, liking the prettier ones best. Though Charlemagne did not know the identity of this vigilante, "The Fairy," and called for her head, he decided to punish those who benefitted from their aid instead. Chanel was only twelve when, in an attempt to save the lives of her people, Queen Camille revealed her identity.
Charlemagne agreed not to harm the peasants, but ordered his own wife's execution. On that day, however, the streets ran red as a twelve-year-old Chanel witnessed his father's guards publicly execute each of the peasants he'd promised to spare. Only then, when she was broken and reduced to tears, did Charlemagne order the headsman's axe to fall upon his former wife.
Within the month, Charlemagne was remarried to a woman of his choice, a noblewoman named Claudine. They had a daughter, Charline, when Chanel was thirteen. Claudine openly mistreated Chanel, and by the time her daughter was four and Chanel was seventeen, even the spoiled Charline had joined in on tormenting the crown prince. Despite ongoing attempts, Claudine never managed to bear Charlemagne a new son to replace Chanel.
During these long years, Chanel was forced to perform the menial tasks of a servant by his step-mother. His only solace was in privately sewing clothing, an act that reminded him of his mother's love, and in fencing, which reminded him of his uncle's strength. When Charline discovered Chanel's secret room, she told Claudine, who took his cherished dresses and skirts. At first, she attempted to fit into them as a wardrobe for the coming ball. When she realized her proportions weren't slender enough, she set them ablaze before the prince's eyes.
Revolution
In his despair, Chanel fled the castle on horseback and came to the far shore of Pumpkin Island. There, he openly wept for the first time since he was a child, for his mother, for his people, for every injustice he'd been subjected to and witness to. Just then, a gloriously flamboyant voice came to him from a nearby rock. A beautiful songstress silhouetted on the pale moon. Chanel called out to the figure, who introduced herself as Verna.
Verna was an "okama," and claimed to be a simple wayfarer, and presented the first friendly face he'd seen in years. Though slow to warm to the energetic woman, he soon found himself laughing at her bad jokes back at her small houseboat. She complimented Chanel on his appearance, noting that he was more beautiful than most women she knew, and offered some pointers on cosmetics.
To her surprise, Chanel gladly accepted and saw for the first time what a beautiful princess he could be. He spent the whole night modeling outfits with Verna (who possessed an absolutely incredible wardrobe of her own). When Verna learned that her new friend was the son of the Charming family, however, she began to panic. She was there as part of the Revolutionary Army, and implored him to remain with her for the following night, the night of the ball.
Verna was also a horrible liar, and eventually revealed that the Revolutionary Army had targeted the Cendrillon Kingdom to depose of its despot. To Verna's surprise, Chanel was actually grateful for this. Rather than attempt to stop, he asked to meet with Verna's fellows instead. Though initially mistrusted, he delivered an impassioned speech about himself and his nation and implored the Revolutionary Army to assassinate his father and help liberate his people.
Not only did the Revolutionaries respond well to this, the changed their plans up a bit. The old plan was to siege the castle while the nobility was focused on the ball, catching them by surprise. The new plan incorporated Chanel. Once briefed, Chanel returned home and set to work crafting the most beautiful ballgown, doing his nails, donning a fashionable wig and makeup loaned by Verna, and glass slippers to complete the attire.
That night, Chanel attended the ball in the guise of an unnamed noblewoman, and found those around him captivated by his beauty. By playing to his vanity, he managed to catch the ear of the king, who was at this point considering having Claudine beheaded and finding a newer, younger wife to bear a better heir. Charlemagne unknowingly attempted to court his son for a few, uncomfortable moments before the clock struck midnight.
At that moment, the Revolutionary Army began their assault on Cendrillon Castle, aided by the resistance cells they'd nurtured across the island. Before Charlemagne knew what was happening, Chanel removed the wig and revealed his identity to his father. He pulled his sword from its place hidden beneath the dress and, with a stroke of radiant colors, felled Charming Charlemagne. The ballroom erupted into chaos as the Revolutionaries succeeded in taking control of Pumpkin Island, as well as the heads of the nobility.
Following the revolution, Pumpkin Island came under control of the Revolutionary Army, and Chanel joined up with them as an independent agent. In doing so, he dedicated himself to helping dismantle the World Government during his travels. To make Beri, he's spent the last year modeling and selling his handmade outfits, and offering makeovers to the people of the North Blue. He's gained some measure of renown, and is considering modeling offers for other clothing lines, including Doskoi Panda.
