Welcome to the Agency! Here’s the place where you can purchase and train Non-Player Characters (NPCs) to help you or your crew along in your adventures. Before you begin, you’ll first need to create a personal thread for your NPC in our Agency (NPCs) Board. Make sure that the title given to the thread indicates who the NPC is and to which character or group they are going to work for (e.g. “Big Mom Pirates NPC – Charlotte Mont-d’Or”).
An NPC has a particular ‘mini’ profile which must be completed. It’s a lot simpler than even the OC template, so you needn’t worry about going overboard on any details unless you feel you really want to. The important parts are included in the template below, as follows:[div align="center"]<NPC Name>[/div]

Here’s a breakdown of what an NPC’s profile needs.
<NPC Name>
Simple enough, replace this with the name of the NPC.
Epithet, Etc.
All of these are pretty much exactly the same as they are for an OC. A moniker, basic physical details, race and such. The only differences are that NPCs use a Class System – they range from E to S – and have an ‘Allied With’ field where you should provide the name of the character or organisation they belong to, as well as a link for convenience.
Personality & Appearance
The same as with any character, but these are mostly just for you and your group’s benefit. As such, you can afford to keep them short and sweet – a general overview.
Traits
Just like OCs, NPCs abide by the Traits system. It works in exactly the same fashion for them, though their Class is their benchmark for obtaining a new Trait, as they don’t directly earn X-Poinz like a player character would.
Fighting Style
Unlike player characters, an NPC only has a single FiSt which scales according to their Class. That’s not to say you can’t teach them more, but you’ll have to pay as normal to do so. Otherwise, an NPCs core FiSt scales naturally as they do. You can find more information on levelling up an NPC a bit further below.
Only your initial post needs to include the full profile for your NPC! Beyond that, additional posts to improve them need only be simple details about what’s being added, such as a Technique or new Equipment. In these cases, simple use the basic templates provided in their respective marketplace threads, but post them in your NPC’s thread instead! That way, everything related to them is gathered up neatly in one place.
Non-Player Character – Class System
Rather than having an NPC be overly costly and function as a normal player character would, we instead use a class system to determine their cost and strength. This makes them more affordable to characters and crews, though they do have their limits. Each ‘Class’ – which works in a similar fashion to a Fighting Style class – has an X-Poinz cost and prerequisite. Simply put, an NPC who is substantially more influential and powerful than you is probably not going to listen to you, let alone work alongside you. Even if they’re friendly towards you, they most likely would need something to sway them and – for balance purposes – mere in-character charm and persuasiveness (or whatever method of approach you take) isn’t going to cut it.
Here’s a chart of NPC Classes and what they mean:
- “E” Class – No Cost
No Prerequisite
These are simple grunts, lackeys and other weak underlings who really aren’t all that special. They might be ordinary people you know well, such as a childhood friend or sibling, but their skills are mediocre. There’s no actual cost for these kinds of NPCs, and you needn’t directly apply for them. You can still generate a profile if you want, which is recommended if you plan on upgrading them in the future. Otherwise, the only real limitation is how many of them can accompany you at any one time. Don’t try and rope in a hundred underlings if your ship can only carry a quarter of them!- “D” Class – 100 X-Poinz
Requires 600 X-Poinz
An NPC of this level is more capable, but would naturally expect their leader to be capable in some way as well. They are able to hold their own relatively well in the Blues. An NPC of this level gains one additional Trait of your choosing, as if they had earned 600 X-Poinz, and is considered to have a “D” Class FiSt – they gain one Aspect and 125 X-Poinz worth of free Techniques and Equipment for that Fighting Style.- “C” Class – 275 X-Poinz / +175 X-Poinz
Requires 1,500 X-Poinz
At this class, an NPC has more refined talents and is generally considered a decent challenge for anyone yet to touch the Grand Line. While they’re certainly not capable of challenging the Grand Line alone, they are nonetheless dangerous foes and amazing allies. A “C” Class NPC has two additional Traits of your choosing – one if you’re upgrading them from “D” Class – and gain Aspects as if they had a “C” Class Fighting Style. Similarly, they receive an additional 250 X-Poinz worth of free Techniques and Equipment for that FiSt.- “B” Class – 525 X-Poinz / +250 X-Poinz
Requires 3,000 X-Poinz
These are people who can hold their own on the Grand Line’s earlier stretches – fighters and such who may be considered legends in comparison to those who roam the waters of the Four Blues. As expected, they gain three additional Traits in total, plus their usual racial bonuses, as if they were a player character who had earned a minimum of 3,150 X-Poinz. Their core Fighting Style abides by all the rules of a “B” Class FiSt – three Aspects and 375 X-Poinz worth of free Techniques and Equipment.- “A” Class – 850 X-Poinz / +325 X-Poinz
Requires 5,000 X-Poinz
Legendary of calibre, these are the people who have no issue in the Grand Line. Aside from racial Traits, they have a cumulative total of four additional Traits of your design, with their core FiSt being equivalent to “A” Class. They have four Aspects and gain 500 X-Poinz worth of free Techniques and Equipment for their Fighting Style.- “S” Class – 1,250 X-Poinz / +400 X-Poinz
Requires 7,500 X-Poinz
These are the top notch NPCs. They are capable in the New World, though don’t for a second think they’re the kinds to match a Yonko! They’re still usually considered small fry on the New World scale. Either way, they have more than likely earned their name and placement, with exceptional skills. Excluding their racial Traits, they will have a total of five Traits of your choosing, carried over as normal if you’ve upgraded them to this point. Their core Fighting Style is also “S” Class, with an extra 625 X-Poinz to spend on free Techniques and Equipment for their FiSt.
The prerequisites for being able to have an NPC of a certain class join you are based on the overall ‘leadership’ of the group they belong to, not the exact total. For individual characters who have allied NPCs, this is not different from the requirements for obtaining a Fighting Style of the same level. For crews and other organisations, this is instead based on the total X-Poinz of the organisation’s established leader. Otherwise, crews of relatively low calibre could afford to recruit NPCs way above their skill level, which isn’t right! If your Captain has accrued a personal total of 3,000 X-Poinz, your crew is eligible to recruit NPCs of “B” Class or below, even if your total crew funds is in excess of 7,500 X-Poinz!
An NPC can obtain additional features as normal, such as extra Techniques, Equipment and even Devil Fruits! However, you’ll have to pay for these extras out of pocket as if they were a normal player character using their owner’s X-Poinz as the source.
