A Logia (“Nature System”) is a class of Devil Fruit that grants its eater the raw power of a natural substance, material, or energy form — like Fire or Natural Gas — by transforming into, producing, and even manipulating external instances of their specific power.
Logia Ability Users are rather typical in their powers, all following the same general power theme, with a little bit of variation based on their particular element. They’ve been shown to be quite variable in that they can solid, liquid, gas, or even plasma, but they always share a standard. All Logia are themed on a material that is both natural and native to the planet, and which exists as the result of a geological (e.g. Sakazuki’s Magma) or meteorological (e.g. Enel’s Lightning) event — it can never be a biological one. If a material is directly produced by an animal, plant, or other living entity, or is man-made, then it isn’t a suitable option for a Logia. However, materials that were previously organically bound but have been heavily modified through geological processes (such as Caesar’s Natural Gas) are suitable.
A Logia needs at least one weakness in addition to its standard Devil Fruit weaknesses, as a means of allowing opponents to find a workaround to the Logia’s apparent invulnerability. For example, Crocodile’s one main weakness was water, which Luffy exploited, because the water caused Crocodile’s sand body to compact and glue together, which is the same principle used in building sand castles! Another example is Enel’s inability to dodge Luffy’s attacks with his lightning body, because rubber isn’t a conductor and works as a solid against him!
Logia are the only class of Devil Fruit that lacks specific sub-categories, so they’ll all use the same cost, as shown below:

Unique Logia Features
When a character eats a Logia-class Devil Fruit, they gain a new Trait that represents their new abilities and any weaknesses that come with it. For instance, after Smoker ate his Devil Fruit, he became a “Smoke Human”. Logia can improve their abilities as normal, and many gain additional passive benefits based on what they transform into, such as how Ace and Smoker were basically immune to each other’s elemental abilities. However, some abilities require training or a good understanding of one’s power develop, such as the one listed below!
Reflexive Transformation
Learning to maintain a body that isn’t truly solid or natural can be a difficult thing and, as such, Logia users don’t immediately start out able to transform to dodge things with ease. Instead, they have to develop this ability as a Devil Fruit Advancement, granting them the passive benefit of being able to shift into their elemental state when an attack hits them to reduce or mitigate the damage. You can find this information in The Dojo.
