It was a cold morning in North Blue. Berry Kane was sitting in a chair at a table in his quarters aboard the ship "The Gambit". Adorning the setting surrounding the pirate were his things and furniture; a twin sized bed with nice thick sheets and blankets made of silk and wool, a pine footlocker for his clothes and personal possessions, and a desk and chair set made of mahogany, both with dark finishes. An armoire with a white coat of paint that held his clothes, a book shelf that held his charts, maps, and well...books, and the walls were painted sea blue in order to lighten up the space in the rather cramped quarters were all also present. Dressed in his typical business suit attire with an additional heavy coat for warmth Berry was going over the sea charts and maps he had purchased while in Shivre Mountain to help make up his mind on where to go next. Multiple catalogs and books gave descriptions of the islands and goods and services that were on them but the new captain didn't want to make up his mind about it all too early; he still needed to talk with David.
It had only been 30 minutes since the crew had set sail for Shivre Mountain. Berry had instructed David that other than staying on the deck for the half hour to make sure that no one would pursue them from the island after its people found out they were pirates, he was to relax. The redhead's injuries to his ribs were mending, and the pain wasn't so bad. The young fighter David wouldn't get off so lucky. His wound to his back was terrible. The young fighter's resilience wasn't enough to save his life from it; major surgery was required, and the new captain didn't want his new first mate to not heal correctly.
The former merchant leaned back in his chair, his hands behind is head as he balanced a pencil on his upper lip. "So where should we go? I've never been a captain until now. I just used to ask Albert where we were headed all the time when I was on his ship... I know, I'll ask David where we should go!" Berry sprung up from his chair, put his hat on, and went to the deck of the ship to find David. "I'm not going to ask him point blank where we should go...but my dream, my purpose, is always coming closer to fruition as long as the ship is sailing. Maybe I need to ask David what his goals are? In fact, other than beating me up-" the memory of Berry being beaten up by David made him frown for a second and shake his head, "-what else can he do?"
Berry exited his quarters and went onto the deck of the ship. The wind was soft, the sun was out, the sky was blue, and yet things were still somewhat chilly. Early morning dew spread all over the deck and created a slight glistening effect caused by the reflection of the sun's rays. The captain looked around and didn't see David anywhere at first, but looking upward he saw him in the crow's nest with a pair of binoculars, doing exactly as he was instructed. Berry called to David,
"Hey David! If you haven't seen anything by now it's okay for you to climb on down now. I had some questions for you!! And thanks for looking out for us up there!!"
