Hanabi grumbled and muttered, irritation furrowed on her brow as she pushed a two by four into the water trying to paddle in the irritating calm. Alone Hanabi was in the water in a wine barrel with no top on it, with herself using a two by four to try to paddle. It was hard to tell how long she had been at sea, could have been hours, could have been days given her stamina. She was never one to speak to herself but her thoughts were filled with thoughts of getting lucky and maybe running into one of the islands in the Calm Belt, she herself was no navigator. Sure she could use a map and a compass, however she didn't know how to compensate for tide, location, drift. Which luckily for her she figured wasn't a factor in the calm belt.
She had a rough knowledge that she might be somewhere along a marine route and that somewhere north of her might be islands, so she stuck the two by four into the water paddling. Humming to herself keeping up a cheerful face.
-1 Hour Later-
Hanabi's tripe continued no different from earlier, no land marks in sight, she reached down into the barrel pulling out a hidden bottle of rum popping the lid and taking a quick swig before quarking it and dropping it back to her feet in the barrel. She silently marveled at how well the barrel held up. And how it wasn't taking any water in. She looked around seeing the perfect, calm flat sea horizon and sighed. If this was the normal sea, she'd have to fight to keep water out of her barrel.
-1 day later-
Sunrise, Hanabi woke up, standing from the barrel silently glad that her devil fruit seemed to make stresses stiffness and pressure non-existant, she actually felt pretty fresh, if a bit hungry. "Row, Row Row your.... Wine Barrel." She had actually managed to get a pattern to her paddling. She didn't dare try to row with her hands, and she'd actually summoned shielding from her feet to make herself heavier at the bottom so the barrel wouldn't tip while she rowed.
-2 days later.-
Hanabi muttered to herself hearing her gut protest, she'd had a restless night, something had been swimming around her one barrel the whole night and she hadn't got a wink of sleep expecting something like a sea-king to attack her. Which could have been a blessing or a curse, if it had taken her in its mouth or gullet and she killed it, she could have killed it, eaten it! She was totally unaware of how stupid her idea was, in her hunger. She hoped she'd get some rest later. She was using the sun to navigate.
-3 days later-
Hanabi growled irritably, she'd been smart enough to sip her rum, not the sea water, but she hungry. She wasn't tired at all from this non stop rowing, but at least she'd gotten some sleep the night before. When Hanabi saw the outline of a ship in the distance she started to wave her hands in the air dramatically shouting at the top of her lungs.
Even from an extreme distance, Hanabi's loud voice would ring out across the windless soundless calm, "HEY!!! SOMEONE PICK ME UP!? I'M OVERBOARD! MAYDAY!" She would continue shouting until she was sure that the ship that she'd luckily paddled into the course of had taken notice of her. She was ahead of the ship, so even if they didn't notice her, their course might practically crash them into her barrel.
