The sun gleaming down on them, its red and yellow light dancing off the ever-present waves, the pair of new pirates stood outside their little fortress of a hole in the world. Their new brother-in-arms was resting inside, too injured to awaken with them. Their plan was simple enough though, take the new ship docked in port and outrun the world. Double back quickly enough to grab Ponte if they needed to, and head for the Grand Line. It certainly wasn’t very smart, but they couldn’t stay in Lougetown much longer, not with the whooping that had been applied to the local Marines, and Pirates. Heading straight for the Grand Line was also not the best idea, considering that they had just become pirates today and had very little skill in Navigating, though Aubrey was willing to try. He had enough experience sailing boats to get them somewhere, and anywhere was better than here.
But first, they would have to go and get the boat in question, that brand new one floating atop the shimmering water only a stones throw away. The only problem, was the Marines guarding it. A clear line of Marines had formed to block the crowd from getting too close. Word on the street was that a very wealthy merchant had commissioned this boat. And, as one of the favorite enterprisers of the World Government inside the East Blue, he was getting a grand ceremony to commiserate his new toy. But, if Zen and his new crew had anything to say about the situation, that boat would be long gone before that World Government Noble arrived, and hopefully before the Marines ever got wind of what was going on. The first hurdle, how to get on the boat itself.
For this task, Zen had decided on the safest course of action for all involved, expect himself naturally. He, and his new found hardiness would act as the distraction. If he could take all the attention of the Marines, then at the very least Marius could get onboard, and if Ponte was available then he could assist. But piloting that boat with just the three of them would be a tall task. So they would need a place to go. If there was one thing that Aubrey knew though, was the area around Lougetown, and in this case the tiny cove that was only a half a day by boat from here that they could hide out in. Luckily for them, the boat was already stocked with supplies, so all that was left was getting to another hiding spot and scouring their minds for the next plan to follow. Looking behind him once more, the new pirate nodded and gave the order, in his nonchalant slight drawl.
“I’ll cause a big scene, you just have to get the thing in open water. We should wait until they get it off dock and turned around in port, then throw off who we don’t need and head for the ocean. I will see you later tonight brother.”
With that Zen turned on his heel and headed down from his perch. His khaki shorts and old, white button-up still sporting yesterday’s blood. Fortunately his body had healed of its injuries quickly enough, leaving him ready to fight, if not just as sore and miserably out of touch with his body as the day before. Walking down the road, he hoped he wouldn’t be spotted too soon, which caused him to hide his red bandana away for safety. All he had was on his back, a pack slightly larger than before after raiding the hideout. Hopefully Marius and Ponte would be able to take whatever else they needed with them. That and the new ship should be enough to get them to their next hideout.
Unknown to our heroes however, the plan would become much more complicated than a simple distraction. Fate had plans for this day.
Certainly a Day to Remember…
